Comic Report #81 - Service with a Smile
Added 2021-05-20 05:54:44 +0000 UTCHello! I got this page painted and ready to go before this week is up. I'm doing up the lettering to get it online quick so I'll keep the post short.
One of the details I want to try to convey during the lettering phase of this comic is the background music playing in the background. It's carrying on the reference to a mixtape playlist from a few pages back, and I wanted to retain that element in the scene, but I didn't want it to make too much of a mess behind the word balloons to keep it from being confusing. I haven't included that element yet, but I'm gonna add it alongside the text, so the version that goes up on the site ought to have it.
Even though the scene takes place in a fixed spot I tried to play with the lighting on Alice to shift the mood from panel to panel. In the penultimate panel, where she's casting a shadow on the curtain, I waffled on if I should include the eyes in her shadow or not, but I ultimately thought it hammered the mood a bit heavier so it was better to include it than otherwise.
This page will be up for Thursday, which means I have the rest of the day to draw up the pencils for the next page. I think I'm gonna try to get that done so I can have the next page posted on Friday, but we'll see what I can get away with. Until then, thanks for reading!
