Haha, i have the feeling the first couple of paragraphs is SS's answer to all the suggestions on RR.

2019-08-11 06:42:24 +0000 UTCSeems like once a week. I do check back every, oh, hour or so, just in case.

2019-08-09 19:58:18 +0000 UTCI would have loved to see some amazing stamina skills, and different skill trees too. Suddenly I wonder why did not mc consider crafting profession for himself, he was no fighter after all.....
8Psycho
2019-08-07 20:57:11 +0000 UTCUh, yeah, we’re comparing all the skills he has revealed, not all of which he can take.
2019-08-07 20:52:28 +0000 UTCAre you reading this same book? MC is not overpowered, and we have noone to compare him to anyway, there is no shown alternative options either.
8Psycho
2019-08-07 20:46:38 +0000 UTCThis book has progression, theorycrafting, a detailed magical system, and an overpowered MC who makes real choices that permanently affect the story and his build while there are plenty of known alternative options. It’s great.
2019-08-07 20:24:14 +0000 UTCMy thoughts exactly. I'm coming back here every few hours just to check if there's a new chapter. Man, I wish I discovered this story a few months later.
2019-08-07 19:13:29 +0000 UTCWhat’s the posting schedule? Once a week? Once every few days?
2019-08-07 18:35:02 +0000 UTCPersonally I think this entire situation is reasonable. Rain has only ever fought slimes and one random beaver monster. Slimes are slow, predictable, and weak and they never appeared in groups larger than 4 (I think). They're gross but unintimidating gelatinous blobs. The beaver monster was alone, and while faster and more aggressive, looked too much like a normal animal to really be scary. The kin are a different beast altogether. There are 50 of them in a single seething mass, which is probably more monsters than Rain has ever killed in total before this. They make angry aggressive noises, have faces and teeth and claws. They're much faster than slimes, are completely unfamiliar and passively emanate heat and fire magic. He came upon them unexpectedly and just watched them rip apart a giant animal carcass like it was nothing. With how inexperienced Rain is it would be weirder if he didn't freeze up. He just needs more experience. Real experience, not system experience. Apologizing and feeling bad for almost killing Val is also normal. It doesn't matter that Val should have known better, Rain almost killed him because he froze and then triggered [Refrigerate] too close to where Val was. You can only control your own actions and if Rain had been better, then Val wouldn't have been at risk.
Garrett
2019-08-06 21:39:32 +0000 UTCThat was my thought too but at the end of chapter 33 Rain said something like "I've got purify with aura focus, just like you. You used it on the musk wolf right?" and she answers with "yes" and then goes on to talk about how long it took her to get them that powerful. She was still fairly vague but that seemed like the closest thing to confirmation we can expect for now. That statement alongside her "I've only got one aura skill" one was what initially confused me about her build.
Garrett
2019-08-06 21:12:33 +0000 UTCoh god I need more
L Pedersen
2019-08-06 20:49:29 +0000 UTCExtend aura would give him an extra 8 metres to work with. Considering that Val was already toe to toe with kin before Rain activated refrigerate, he'd have to run out of the range, leaving his back vulnerable depending on how his shield works
2019-08-06 18:24:26 +0000 UTCMc had some bad experiences with slime, he learned to struggle and fight, what also does he need to not be frozen? It is not that his freeze is completely implausible. Aura reaches only 6 meters, could experienced Val be expected to remove himself from dangerous area? Why did not he ran?.. In both cases, it was simply not what I expected.
8Psycho
2019-08-06 17:56:54 +0000 UTCThe only combat scenarios in which he's actively participated in have been, exclusively, slime decimation - a 'non-dangerous' monster which normal people can kill. It'd be weird if he could confidently throw himself into the centre of 50 ravenous and far more dangerous monsters, especially considering his pathetic health pool. Not to mention, rain doesn't appear to be some sociopath. Not only did his hesitation almost kill the both of them, he almost killed Vall himself. He's not a gigantic doormat, he's just owning up to his mistake.
2019-08-06 17:48:24 +0000 UTCIt is possible that it isn't aura, i have already given you that, your conjectures is not any more believable than mine. Do not Attract/Repel/Root strike you as pretty common Aura effects tho?
8Psycho
2019-08-06 15:39:54 +0000 UTCAbout this Chapter: mc's should probably not use any more skill points(Aside from IFF) until he hits the cap, and open all relevant Tier 3(maybe even 4? if possible) skill lists. Then he can knowingly plan what Auras to buy. 11 points until level 25, 8 for Auras, 2 for PI and IFF, last one - reserve. PI and IFF must obviously be bought before lvl25 to open relevant classes. As for battle: it was pretty weird, first mc freezes, even tho he should not - he already faced similar lvl opponents, imps aren't dragons. Then after the battle, he feels bad and apologizes, even tho he was not really at fault. It was Val's recklessness that brought it upon himself... MC just apologizes too much, every time he thinks someone might be offended. Kinda annoying.
8Psycho
2019-08-06 15:35:52 +0000 UTCI'm not sure she has [Aura Focus] unless it was absolutely necessary for her class. It could just as easily be a similar-skill with a more general-but-lesser effect. [Channeling Focus] for example. Eh, unless we get explicit words from her regarding her class, I'm pretty reticent on assuming what she has
Keifru
2019-08-06 14:42:32 +0000 UTCShe said she only has 1 aura. Attract is simply an ability. Its utility is pretty obvious if its like [Attract].(OBJECT)::[LOCATION]. Equip a shield -> [Attract].(Arrow)::[Arm] == ezpz ranged defense. Although my bet would be that its more like a 1-time effect on use rather than a persistent effect. Hmmm...still, an [Attract].(Sword)::[Shield] at the right time would give a pretty significant opening. Its likely the larger the targeted item, the less significant the movement or the easier it can be resisted (assuming it can be used on living creatures). Although versus monsters, [Attract].(Head)::[Hand] is could be a nice setup to combo with some kind of weapon ability for a 1-2 strike. Not everything with range/AoE needs to be an Aura
Keifru
2019-08-06 14:29:12 +0000 UTCIt might be hidden. It might be in higher tier. High tier does not necessarily mean stronger skill - check out defensive aura tiers. It was just my conjecture either way.
8Psycho
2019-08-06 10:17:34 +0000 UTCIf it was an aura, I'd imagine it'd be pretty low tier. In that case, rain would have already found it.
2019-08-06 09:14:31 +0000 UTCWell.. it looks similar. Acting upon area. Probably paired up with detection.
8Psycho
2019-08-05 18:33:31 +0000 UTCWhy would attract have to be an aura?
Delta
2019-08-05 16:11:59 +0000 UTCIts good to know that, in least some small off-handed way, my comments about getting the health aura have contributed to the inspiration for this chapter!
tibbish
2019-08-05 14:54:56 +0000 UTCYeah paladin of sorts would be my guess.
tibbish
2019-08-05 14:48:03 +0000 UTCThat's my thought too. She probably has a class that loosely corresponds to a Paladin or Cleric type build, or maybe some kind of monk since we've never seen her with a weapon.
Luminant
2019-08-05 00:15:43 +0000 UTCSo paladin?
Håvard
2019-08-04 21:41:05 +0000 UTCSurvivor bias 2 stronk- even worse when a third (minimum) were someone else bailing yer bacon
Keifru
2019-08-04 20:06:22 +0000 UTCShe probably had to take specific skills to get a certain class, like how val is doing.
Raveve
2019-08-04 19:53:06 +0000 UTCAnd I forgot to add that she's important enough that she can yell at the blue bastard and walk away scot-free. Might just be that silver ranked adventurers are rare and valuable enough to get away with it or it could be something more.
Garrett
2019-08-04 19:49:15 +0000 UTCThat 'Attract' stuff must be aura tho. She also probably has velocity. Was she lying about only having one aura? Was she a beacon perhaps and does not want to talk about it?
8Psycho
2019-08-04 19:47:38 +0000 UTCAmeliah's build confuses the crap out of me. What we know about it: she's at least lvl 25, she's physically strong (could be stats, skills, or both), [Healing Word], touch based stamina restoring skill, [Attract], [Cleanse], and [Aura Focus]. Everything we've seen from her so far has been support but she must have some kind of offensive ability too unless she's a complete idiot, which I doubt. Whats really throwing me off is that she spent so many skill points on pure convenience skills. [Cleanse] and [Attract] have their uses I'm sure but spending a point on [Aura Focus] when she only has one aura skill? The only thing I can think of is that she is such a high level that she can afford to waste skill points on multiple frivolous skills...
Garrett
2019-08-04 19:45:04 +0000 UTCWhy? It worked last time so it's going to work next time :)
Håvard
2019-08-04 19:22:54 +0000 UTCHey Val, maaaaaybe if this is the *SIXTH* time you've almost died, you should sit down and think *very* hard about your past choices. PERHAPS you could be a mite less YOLO
Keifru
2019-08-04 19:16:17 +0000 UTCGot it, thanks!
SenescentSoul
2019-08-04 18:47:22 +0000 UTCimo taking a long time to lvl a skill is a reason to get it earlier, not later.
Raveve
2019-08-04 18:07:06 +0000 UTCWild theorycrafting fine -> was fine
Elaborate
2019-08-04 17:24:24 +0000 UTCI cant help but imagine rain rolling down the mine shaft in a hampster ball using shear to kill everything he runs into. That or sitting in a big metal backpack on the back of the tank with iff on the party 1 tap for aura kill 2 taps for recovery.
Zed
2019-08-04 16:54:46 +0000 UTCwell~ the town is under the thumb of the watch... also there are only 2 gold adventurers in the entire town (and we've met both) they're trying to raise their daughter and don't care about some level 4 shrimp. it has been stated that this is a low rank zone, higher leveled adventurers are probably where the higher ranked monsters are. it's also been explained that this is one of the "free cities" which are not part of the shadowy empire. also that they're about to go to war with them and shipping off that watch group.
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 16:02:22 +0000 UTCUnless the nobility of this city is blatantly idiotic, at some point someone with more pull than Gold Greggior that threw him out should recognize the massive potential. I mean, just his ability to clean an entire manor in an hour would put him on their radar, much less if he can mass farm Tel in the proper Lair types. I just think it's bizzare that there seems to be such a strange lack of shadowy political thingeemajiggers going on.
Mr. Bigglesworth
2019-08-04 15:38:23 +0000 UTChuh~ i didn't think of them having different colors for ranks... hm~ well i guess we'll find out when rain is more experienced and goes to a higher ranked area... as for the cap, i thought they were clear, the cap is the highest level of essence monster he killed. so his cap is 18. so, 4 skills left before he needs to get experience and find a party
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 15:32:19 +0000 UTC... that's... terrifying, i was actually hoping for a skill to lower aura range,,, i keep imagining him using shear in the sewer when the aura is max rank and accidentally murdering tons of peasants on the surface... aura IFF will help, but it sounds like a black list rather than a white list, for aura effects... if he doesn't know about someone on the other side...
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 15:28:41 +0000 UTCas stated a few ch's comments ago. in ch 32 he actually has 160 clarity not 150, that's a typo on the sheet but is correct in the calculations. author has already fixed the master copy in addition, magical synergy is level 6 then so .025 became .15, not that that tiny amount mattered much in the calculations, tho :P
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 15:17:28 +0000 UTCHow does the Essence cap work? Is he capped to the level of the blue that's killed? Are there higher colors like yellow, green, blue, indigo, etc?
Mr. Bigglesworth
2019-08-04 15:11:30 +0000 UTCUnless more Skills come into play, he would need to be level 150 with the current math presented to turn Fridge Killer mode on and just walk into a Fire Kin den to commit mass murder. Bonus points if he ever gets a talent that boosts his range off his Clarity as well that would allow him to mass kill armies like he'll eventually be able to kill Lairs.
Mr. Bigglesworth
2019-08-04 15:09:46 +0000 UTCOr is there something that just flat adds double to the regen?
Mr. Bigglesworth
2019-08-04 15:04:46 +0000 UTC24 hrs a day, 60 minutes an hour, 1440 minutes a day. ((10*150*3*3)+(20*10*3*0.025))=13515/1440=9.4 mana per minute, and that's rounding up. Is there some other factors at work that are not shown?
Mr. Bigglesworth
2019-08-04 15:04:14 +0000 UTCHis mana regen doesn't match up with the formula shown earlier in Chapter 30.
Mr. Bigglesworth
2019-08-04 15:01:15 +0000 UTCStarted as in 'jumped' or 'flinched' or 'was startled'.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-04 14:43:31 +0000 UTCThanks, I'll change it to 'Rain positioned the sturdy branch...'
SenescentSoul
2019-08-04 14:41:51 +0000 UTChe should get a most common energies list or something from jamus
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 14:35:15 +0000 UTClol~ it's the comment section~ xD also, i agree with Carten... health well. also if there's a damage ward, I'd be all about it. taking all the resistance wards seems like a waste tho, unless nothing opens up for the rest of the under 25 stuff... then it would be adding 10% reinforcement to all auras each pop, so at least there's that
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 14:34:37 +0000 UTCpage 10- rain started --- stared
2019-08-04 14:32:47 +0000 UTCpage 7- rain the sturdy branch in front of himself --- you are missing a verb
2019-08-04 14:31:40 +0000 UTCHi that is plagiarism! :D was having fun reading it :)

2019-08-04 14:29:11 +0000 UTCGreat chapter!
