Chapter 35
Added 2019-08-07 22:05:10 +0000 UTCThis chapter is a quiet one. Let me know if you like it, or if you think it needs work. For those who adore blue boxes, I promise there will be some next time.

2019-08-11 06:52:28 +0000 UTCHere is the full formula for your enjoyment: ((3*3*160*10)+(3*0.15*10*20))*(100%+50%*1.9*1.3)/1440-0.79

2019-08-09 19:05:54 +0000 UTCThe patreon comment interface blows 🙄 As for the math, the key is that he shows the statistics window before he takes aura synergy.

2019-08-09 15:14:58 +0000 UTCDynemo does not affect the regen from focus. Dynemo increases the efectivness of the clearity statt. So dynemo affect the mana regen and the mana he get from clearity (160*0.15 *3*3 *20 from the skill).

2019-08-09 15:12:07 +0000 UTCDecided to extend this to projections for next level. Assuming ~14 hours of 'training' (ie ~1 minute of Essence Well w/ Aura Focus every ~2 hours), Essence Well, Channel Mastery, Aura Synergy, & Aura Focus will all reach level 9, while Amplify Aura & Extend Aura will reach 10. Add 10 to Clarity from level up. The new mana regeneration rate on the next day, without using Aura Focus, will be ~38 per minute, nearly double current rate.

2019-08-09 11:56:11 +0000 UTCSo, I have been looking at Rain's mana regeneration as of the last character sheet stats (chapter 32), and my results do not match what is displayed. My results are slightly higher, and reducing Clarity to the incorrect 150 results in it being slightly lower. Is there something I am failing to factor in? Also, I posted another reply previously, but it is failing to appear for me. Does anyone else see it, or has it been eaten by the void? 1615 Base Mana Regeneration (160 Clarity x 10) + (10 Focus x 10 x 0.15) x20.52 Multiplier (x3 Dynamo x3 Intrinsic Clarity x2.2807 Winter) *Winter Multiplier* *1 + (0.5 Base x 1.9 Amplify Aura x 1.037 Aura Synergy x 1.3 Channel Mastery)* 1135.68 Winter Upkeep Cost 24 Hours/day x 5 Base x 2.8 Amplify Aura x 2.6 Extend Aura x 1.3 Channel Mastery Final Mana Regeneration (rounded to 2 decimals) 32,014.23 per day 1,333.93 per hour **22.23 per minute** 0.37 per second

2019-08-09 11:27:31 +0000 UTCGood chapter, I wouldn't change a thing, content-wise. The only possible frustration is that i've got a mad fiction boner for your story and my inner instant gratification monkey is currently rampaging :P

2019-08-09 04:49:06 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure he never explicitly mentioned a lack of magic where he was from, either. Just an ignorance of how things work, and that's a big difference.

2019-08-08 21:12:21 +0000 UTCIt's fine I guess, but I think it had been clearly expressed in Rain's thoughts on multiple occasions before that he was not comfortable sharing his origin from another world, and definitely had not with anyone before. While it was nice in this chapter, your modification to the last chapter seems to come from nowhere and feels like a bit of a waste, honestly. I think a proper correction would require a much more significant revision, but that is just me.

2019-08-08 21:01:56 +0000 UTCI personally really enjoyed this chapter. character building is some of the most important, but hardest, aspects of a story imo. So a good chapter or two like this every so often is really important

2019-08-08 16:32:47 +0000 UTCA bit too much 'telling not showing' in my opinion. Even without any tweaks it would have been fine. It was possible enough to guess/assume his 'very far' to be that far.

2019-08-08 15:36:32 +0000 UTCApollo Program, good flex as far as stories. Terribly, awfully, and horribly rambling but an attempt was made. "Trapping lighting in rocks to make them think" is also one of my more favorite stories. Though if he ends up talking about electronics and binary, explaining ones-and-zeros like a decision tree for Morse Code letters might help a lot to 'showing' how they work. Oh wait, that requires him to be literate :P

2019-08-08 03:00:56 +0000 UTCah nah, this comment chain will exist to explain it~ xD sorry i deleted it before i saw anyone replying, since i realized i must have just misread something.

2019-08-08 02:16:28 +0000 UTCIt's mostly having to call it 'the' US. Makes it sound pretentious. To me at least. Also, I think you deleted your comment and now mine doesn't really make sense. I might delete it too. And possibly this one as well.

2019-08-08 02:09:41 +0000 UTCIt occurs to me that a combination of [Cleanse], [Fall], and possibly [Energy Well] might eliminate the need to breath entirely... The point of breathing is to get oxygen and while oxygen serves a bunch of vital purposes in the body, they mainly seem to boil down to two general ones; cleaning (eliminating harmful bacteria and cleaning away dead cells and toxic acid build up) and fueling the body via oxidization (oxygen basically burns food in order to generate the energy your body needs). If [Cleanse] can eliminate the need to poo it should also be able to replace oxygen's cleaning functions and [Fall] provides nutrition and replaces the need to eat which may or may not replace oxygen's energy generating functions. If [Fall] isn't enough on its own then I imagine a bit of overstamina can fill in any gaps.

2019-08-08 02:05:09 +0000 UTCeh, well, I'd say American, but I'd not call my country "the Americas" which i thought it said,,, tho i must have misread it at the time~ also, idk why that's annoying, it's one syllable less.
MagicWafflez
2019-08-08 01:51:55 +0000 UTCWhere I'm from we just call it America. Saying 'the US' every time is annoying so we rarely do it. The name of our country is weird and wordy but it is what it is, if people from Canada, Mexico, or South America want to refer to themselves via their continent rather than their country they're welcome to, but my nationality is no less American because of their opinions on the word.

2019-08-08 01:31:49 +0000 UTCauthor person, where is rain actually from?
MagicWafflez
2019-08-08 01:30:32 +0000 UTCYea I think it looks good, he did just hinted at it to the others. Think it is natural for him to be more comfortable around her as she is really the most altruistic it feels like.

2019-08-07 23:25:54 +0000 UTC34 is now updated with the 'final' version of this passage. I should know better than to use that word, but I can hope.

2019-08-07 22:56:23 +0000 UTCHere is the modified segment: Rain rolled his eyes as he walked towards the road. “Right, so anyway, we need to convince him to train his offensive auras so he can get shear, then he can-” “Yer not listenin’ ta’ me! He doesn’t need shear!” The noise of the two adventurers faded as Rain left them behind. He hurried to catch up with the others, who he could see waiting for him at the road. Had he known how heated the argument about his build would get, he would have never even brought it up. He’d been telling Ameliah what had happened to him since he’d last seen her, and that had turned into a discussion of how he had turned up in the forest via teleportation. Ameliah had suspected something of the sort, but she had still been shocked to learn that he wasn’t from this world at all. Even though he had only hinted at it with the others, he’d felt comfortable enough around her to come right out and say it directly. However, before he had been able to go into too much detail, Carten had wandered over and started listening in. The large man was a bit of an unknown to him, so he steered the conversation back to safer territory. Eventually, Val and Jamus joined the conversation and it quickly devolved into a heated argument about his class and his skill choices. It seemed that the taboo only applied to direct discussions about someone’s stats or level. Wild theorycrafting was fine, apparently. “They’re still going at it, huh?” Val asked as Rain approached the cart.

2019-08-07 22:55:27 +0000 UTCyea, i was thinking he just sorta skimmed over everything by just saying he was from far away. Didn't think he actually said anything of substance to them.
Raveve
2019-08-07 22:50:46 +0000 UTCThis is a good point. Jamus, Tallheart, and Val have had 'the talk' but Ameliah hasn't. I'll add a line or two in chapter 34. Rain told his story to the others there, but the wording indicates they didn't get discuss the teleportation.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-07 22:41:58 +0000 UTCI don't remember him ever actually saying he was from a different world, or even going into any details about it to other people. Maybe I'm just forgetting but it sounds like they know more than they should about where he came from.

2019-08-07 22:32:52 +0000 UTCNice chapter, i think having this kind of worldbuildingchapter is pretty good in the long run as it gives us a break from rains crazy leveling and it shows that the world is more than just numbers and modifiers.
2019-08-07 22:19:20 +0000 UTC... rain... is terrible at stories xD tho really idk what kind of story she'd want, and he remembered a lot more details than i did~
