Chapter 40

Read with the lights off.

Comments

Where's chapter 39 and 41?

MitchyGoodness

I 100% missed the line she moved to the middle. Derp

I’m sure plenty of people want to, the logistics just don’t work. Since the chance of getting extra points is rare, you need to destroy a lair core to get the chance, and lairs aren’t exactly common it all boils down to being one of the first people to reach a newly discovered lair and hoping that you get lucky. The lairs that are still around and known are most likely all claimed by some big organization so that they can be farmed for tel, exp, and essence monsters.

Garrett

I think it means lair number 3,834,824,991. Which is a frightening amount of lairs. 3.8 billion? If lairs have been spawning since the planet first formed, then I guess that's an okay number, but if all those lairs are still around today... yeesh.

Neisus

Since dungeons can give points regardless of the level cap I am surprised high leveled individuals don’t try to clear dungeons for that extra bit of power.

RanaSuilep

Probably, but the thought interface seems to be better than any click interface. The big thing would be some kind of logic statements to automatically cycle through abilities. If in a dungeon cycle detect at x range every 5 sec, if monster detected cycle attack aura for 5 sec using target matrix A, use detect again if monster still present use attack aura2 for 5 seconds.....something like this.

RanaSuilep

The fact that the dungeons work like programming made me wonder if Rain will eventually get high enough clarity to make his interface even closer to a game's interface by adding an ability bar that he can mentally click his own created abilities, like the purifying nova and such, since he was wondering if he could get the system to recognize it as an ability

If I had to take a stab at answering your questions, I’d guess that the hexadecimal was real but only visible thanks to a combo of Rain’s coding knowledge and his high clarity. Context clues imply that the name change is persistent. As for your last question... I guess we’ll find out!

Garrett

But this line exists: "Ameliah moved into the center of the group, but left her light trailing behind them, an action for which Rain was immeasurably grateful." It came right after she told Rain to watch behind them and pretend she wasn't there.

Garrett

I assumed she vanished. Seems like that to me. Left them to fend for themselves. Until genuine crisis.

8Psycho

The real question is if anyone can translate the hex

RanaSuilep

The Dungeon name raises fascinating questions. *Was the hexadecimal in the beginning actually there? *Is the name-change persistent, so other parties would see it too, if they came by? *Was the name changed because they mentally voted for the change... or because the Dungeon Core listened in and was persuaded?

Elaborate

Maybe it's all the Dungeon Core stories I've read, but I'm like, "Shatter the core? Oh noes, why would you ever want to kill this magnificent malevolent monster-maker? Did you try talking to the spooky murdercrystal first?"

Elaborate

She moved into the middle of the group. Theres no reason to assume she vanished.

Garrett

Monk build! Yas!

Imp

A good chapter with some much needed common sense.

RanaSuilep

With a cliff hanger too. :/ Toootally unfair.

tibbish

After they realize something is wrong and it's maze like, there's no mention of Ameliah. That can be used for adding to scary tone, but might be better off adding in that Rain looks around and doesn't see her so the reader isn't confused about it. If she's actually there, him not seeing her could just be Rain freaking out and perspective bias.

Ziggy

Don't actually read with the lights off though. Terrible eye strain, that.

Hoaxendras

That was really good! Thanks for the chapter.

Yashakami

Damn this patreon grew fast, i remember there being less than 200 people signed up at the start of this month.

So, a maze.
