Hello! Here's the finished textless version of this page for you. I got a couple little details to highlight and then I'll be getting back to work lettering it and getting it posted on the main site.
The first little detail is one I'd worried about in my past two entries for this page, the severity of the first panel shot. A reader here kindly pointed out that the shattering glass aesthetic wasn't actually dispelling or mitigating the effect I hoped it would, and I agreed, so I made an adjustment to just switch it back to how action shots past worked out. I kept the glass pane effect in the background itself, which I think is sufficiently thematic, and I think the shot ends up conveying the impact I wanted without overstepping.
This page leans very heavy on sound effects, which I think work towards selling the frantic chaotic nature of the moment. One of the other reasons I wanted to make sound effects of the gunshots so prominent is because part of my idea for how to close out the hardcopy of the newspaper article is to describe the event from other residents' perspective, describing it as a brief but tremendous cacophony. Having the big sounds interspersed in panel shards around a text description of the event, I think, would have a fun bit of synergy to it, so I made the sound effects nice and big. I'll be typing up that actual news article text after this article goes up.
The last little detail I want to type about is the lighting in the last panel, returning to the dark archive room. I love painting atmospheric lighting, and in these panels I had a lot of fun painting Monday and capturing the flashlight in his mouth moving, changing the way the light cast on him and on the room around him. It's a small thing but I just wanted to type and say how much I always love painting these panels.
Anyways, that's it for now. I should have a gamedev post to share tomorrow, but for now I'm gonna get this new page lettered and posted. I will see you again soon! Thanks for reading.
