Comic Report #102 - Beep

This week I've got a very fun page to share with you!  It's been a minute since we've seen these two together, and when we last left them they had just found their love for each other, sitting together and enjoying the view across the river.  Since then I've had a few other scenes I've needed to draw and story-wise they needed to depart from their lunch breaks and head back to work.  

After a bit of time in-comic and real-life has passed I wanted to kinda bring the two back together before continuing on with the next scene, so this page is set up like they both have been going through their work day thinking about the other this whole time.  I don't want The Kiss Page to be the only kiss page so I am having fun drawing more good kiss panels. This particular kiss is going to be important for the next page or so after it, but there will be more about that later.  

One thing I kinda wanted to do with this page was help flesh out the dynamic between Lizzie and Alice as a couple.  In the original leadup to their first kiss Alice confessed that she had feelings for Lizzie for a while and Lizzie was kinda too in her own head to realize how her own feelings were evolving since her departure from her fiance.  Lizzie has grown as a person the entire time she's been around Alice, whether she noticed it or not; she's a stronger person when Alice is around, and Alice feels safer when she's with Lizzie.  That's become their dynamic, a feedback loop that reinforces both halves, so when they reunite after work I wanted to reflect that in a way, with Alice looking out for and running to Lizzie and Lizzie lifting Alice up in her arms for the big kiss.

The last panel is a similar side-by-side shot from the previous kiss page.  I wanted to think of a way to differentiate it so it's not exactly the same as the previous page, but that side-on shot is just the perfect shot for what I need.  For this shot I wanted to draw them more settled-in to their new dynamic so it's distinct from the "just realizing this for the first time" feel of the previous shot.  They're both standing this time so you can see that Alice is a bit taller than Lizzie.  Lizzie rests her hands on Alice's sides, having eased her back to the ground after her big lift-up, and Alize just beeps Lizzie's little button nose. I think it's cute.

Anyways, that's it for today!  I've gotten a jump-start on the inking so this page might go by quickly- I kinda want to have it up during Pride month- but it is an outdoor night scene so who knows, I'll do the best I can.  Until next time, have a nice weekend.
