Comic Report #117 - Uh Oh!

Hello again!  This month we've made a bunch of progress on game development tasks but it's time to get back into working on the next comic page.  There's some odds & ends game stuff I want to clean up but I am digging in to get this page finished by the end of the month so the next few updates should be all about comic progress until the page goes up.  I feel at times like I am a bit overloaded for how much I can manage on my own but I am thankful for your patience and grateful beyond words for your support.  I intend to see these things through to the finish line, and for the comic that's maybe not as far off as it feels.

So, the new page.  Over the past few pages I've been setting up a sort of crossroads for Pat.  He's been characterized to this point as an aspiring hero who maybe has unhealthy ideas about heroics who gets himself into trouble and depends on someone else to bail him out.  So now that Monday has stirred up a bit of trouble introducing himself to the Mayor, Pat finds himself in a spot of trouble where no one but him can help resolve his fate.  What'cha gonna do, Pat?  Today we find out.

The page opens with a rollover from the previous page, where Pat's handler from the Gravekeepers narrows down their plan to infect one of Monday's friends and disappear them without suspicion.  Pat opens with the observation that, well, weren't you the ones who helped bring them to Tombstone?  His handler retorts with the observation that, how could we have known one of them was infected?  We were just trying to help them out.  Pat wrestles with what he's hearing before he's beckoned by his companion to hurry up- the snow is still fresh, we can follow their tracks to see which house they were assigned to.  Pat is realizing that the Gravekeepers as a team he aspired to joining aren't interested in serving the well-being of the community, they're interests are in maintaining their own authority and their good favor with the Mayor.  This is a big revelation for Pat, and so he find himself in a position to make a big choice that will affect how the next morning is going to play out.

Pat, in his moment of clarity, decides the best thing he could do- the thing his friends would have done- is to stop the guy who has this idea in his head from executing that idea, with a smack to the back of the head.  It's actually not the first time this particular guy has been cracked in the head, and is part of why he got picked to be Pat's handler on this sortie.

Pat's got a little Monday in him, if only for a moment.  It's short-lived, though, as a moment later he realizes he's committed to a big choice and now he's irrevocably in pretty big trouble with the group who have just explained to him how they handle retribution.  Uh oh!  Good luck, Pat!

That's it for this week.  I'm gonna push forward and see if I can get this page close to done by this time next week.  I'll have a more substantial gamedev report once we get some things in place, but I'm going to make this comic page my priority for the near future.  Thanks as always for checking in.  Until next time, have a nice weekend!

Oh heck yeah. Also, I love how this perfectly sets up an arc where The Hero Of The Day not only rescues a group of survivors from a dire situation, not only prevents an assault by a group of raiders singlehandedly, but breaks wide open a huge corruption scandal.
