I wonder if the Alchemists could figure out a way to convert the mostly-organic soil into plastic, or carbon fiber, or even diamond. Probably not a cost-effective way of making bricks, though, unless they figure out a whole industrial process for it and make something akin to Tallheart's smelter. I guess if you could make runes for certain hydrocarbons, you could make a custom smelter that extrudes them, but you'd need to tune the heat and pressure, and put in the right catalysts, maybe have a multi-stage smelter to first filter the right atoms in the right proportions, then put them into the right configuration, then extrude them into a noble-gas atmosphere to cool until they won't simply catch on fire immediately.
