2024-06-05 22:31:01 +0000 UTCFor some reason i cant get this epub to read right the text is chopped off on the right. 264 and 266 are both working fine for me. Is it an issue with my reader?

2024-01-14 17:54:18 +0000 UTCHe did not imply that one could 'make' blues, just that leaving alone those elder monsters would give them a chance to eventually turn into a blue. This process could take decades or more and might require them killing and devouring many other monsters for their essence. Deepening was, until now, a term that was exclusively used in alchemical metalworking. Tallheart is able to deepen iron into adamant and the titanium-aluminum alloy into lillium. A monster deepening their colour would in this context, where it's implied to be something desirable, mean that they upgrade into an essence beast and change the colour of their name to blue.

2024-01-14 14:22:46 +0000 UTCSeems too significant for a throwaway line. Here's how you make Blues! Maybe Shu means aberrations? In which case "elder monsters" = blues, deepened elder monters = aberrations.

2024-01-14 13:42:43 +0000 UTCI love this: "Hopefully without any unscheduled lithobraking, as Rain called it." Its not a crash if you can walk away, it was unscheduled lithobraking

2024-01-14 13:38:15 +0000 UTCIm pretty sure i remeber scribe classes being brought up. There is printing through the use of magic copy paste and thats how these articles can get around.

2024-01-14 13:35:32 +0000 UTCHope Rain has an imminent plan to get a team of high silvers or gold to safeguard Ascension from any forceful retaliation from the Bank. Would be nice if Luna knows a gold dungeon or proper delving spot.

2024-01-14 12:55:40 +0000 UTCElder monsters deepening their colour? Did Shu just tell us how free-roaming blues come into existence?

2024-01-14 09:05:42 +0000 UTCI was a bit disappointed when I started reading, since the common knowledge article topic felt disjointed from the previous chapter, but the more I read the more suspicious I became untill I got to Maintenance and felt like: "Oh shit!" then kept reading and was like "No, he didn't!" and then the article just kept going. It went from a slap to the face to straight up public lashing in terms of damage. And the best is, that everyone will realise it. I appreciate that the word "Lightcore" was constantly used, since it took me quite an embarrassing amount of time to connect the article with the bank guy. Now the only issue I have is, that I still have no idea how paper and ink is made in this world and how common it is (also printing?), including reading/writing skills (public schools? apprenticeship?). I am pretty spoiled in terms of worldbuilding by novels like Ascension of a Bookworm, so questions like those are always on my mind, when I read about books in settings that have swords. A chapter from the perspective of Mlem would probably go a long way for worldbuilding but that is one less chapter for the main story. :/ What is the generall state of the economy? How much percent of normal people are employed in the food industry (how many people can 1 farmer sustain(this is probably the most important number!!!))? What about awakened? How does the current tech-tree look like, at least stuff that is commonly available? The supply-lines? Import/export of local goods? Advantages due to local climate and natural resources? If all those things are too complicated and not worth writing about then that's fine too, but I'd want to at least understand the expectations of people. If I am born in X to family Y, what can I expect my life to be? How much can I change it and at what risk? There is likely an even greater stratification among common people than awakened. I think just nailing down current population numbers, deathrate, birthrate and bluespawns/day in a given country/city would paint a good framework for the rest of the story. Because it seems like the scope is getting bigger and I'd really hate for this story to end up like one I won't mention, where in a medieval setting armies of multiple millions people with plate armor went to war without supplylines, because the numbers sounded cool. :( I think this story shines brightest when it uses the magic system to bridge gaps introduced by the realism of the world (the lightbulb chapters were awesome in my opinion), but to do that, we need to know of the current capabilities. Otherwise Ascention might get a 1000 new recruits from a town in one chapter only to later in the story find out, that it would be impossible for the town to even have so many young adults. I am not sure how feasable it would be to put a sidestory chapter with informations like that into the early chapters, where Rain was still saving his first towns. He was story-wise in a good position to find out about these things. Interested too, to know how much population he could safely poach.
