Doubtful, right now the citizen is in a vulnerable position, so she’s more open minded about things. As soon as she will be able to call on her noble houses resources she’ll go right back to doing whatever she wants and listening to no one.

I hope that Rain can become a person that Velika will listen to or ask for input of a sort like we saw in a previous chapter, because he is like her in being an adventurer and not a snake in the grass (so to speak).

Val totally might be a red herring. I'd be surprised if it's Mahria though. She has an almost goldplate level mom, I doubt she needs to kill a low level blue to up her cap. Her mom either could or already has gotten her a higher level blue than the supposed level 10ish one in the Fels.

Nearly everyone in story so far either know nothing about auras or are highly dismissive of them in general. Velika I think is the first Rain has met who seems to know much about them and respects them right off the bat.

Why would he be so surprised by people knowing about force and speed aura. They are not that deep in the tree and fairly useful all around. That's just him being dumb

Not checked, but if I remember correctly at the time he had a limited view of the skill trees. He decided he needed a second damage aura to meet unlock requirements to get Shear (which looked awesome at the time). Might even of been before he knew he was level capped to 18

Great chapter. I'm curious to see why Velika is saying "she". Rain desperately needs some heat or cold resistance or an aura that doesn't cause mage-burn. He should have chugged a heat resistance potion first. Aura compression is useful but I would have taken Darkness first. (Honestly I think spending two skill points on level one offensive auras was a bad idea).

Same with Force ward and velocity if he could use both simultaneously he could just bulldoze into enemies

Maybe he'll be able to pick up another aura that protects from environmental effects later on? I mean force ward works similarly surely there is an aura that protects from heat or temperature deeper into the skill tree. When he's able to use two aura simultaneously blasting immolate and refrigerate shouldn't be a problem right?

Its hard to grok why people are such potaytoe...Velika is effectively a local King/Duke-tier person. Why do they have any expectation that they get to keep the Tel? Or backtalk? Like, they're literally there on her sufferance. She's not a peer. Also, the whining about loot- you don't get to keep the money from what you forge as an apprentice under a master, you get paid a wage. Their reward is becoming awakened.

Hearing Velika call the intruder "she," it occurs to me that if the setup with Val is just a red herring, there's someone else in the city crazy enough to try something like this: Mahria. And of course, if Velika then stomps on her, Lavarro is going to be pissed...

I have a question that might have been answered earlier, but will Rain learn hand code? It seems really useful, especially for later when he is in a situation that doesn't allow him to speak, like the dome or an aura of his in the future.

Same! They interact with the environment to create hot and cold air which can create a lot of wind and storm like effects. Or they might interact weirdly and unpredictably? Who knows.

Should be an interesting follow up. Rain has a unique class with modifiers. He's got a ring bumping his stats up to a lv 40+. His mana allows him to fast level abilities. I'm sure many lv 20 don't have as many if any maxed abilities. Remember, mages getting horrific migraines by only using more than 50% of their mana. So leveling skills would be slow. Same for sword skills, stamina affecting them.

What’s the reason he can’t cycle Immolate and Refrigerate for a couple seconds or so each? There’s probably been an explanation at some point that I’m forgetting? Does he think he needs to reach the ignition point of the monsters to kill them because the spells themselves don’t do enough damage? Or is there a delay from activation to reaching the full radius?

no, he didn't there was no aura focus i think aura increases power and range with range compressing to power i figure he used about ~20% power

Holy shit that was cool. Rain finally showing the full potential of his auras in front of an audience who doesn't really know what his build is makes him look insanely dangerous as well, hope the nobles listen to him a bit more from now on.

I wouldn't put it past Velika to also herd some slower Trundler Rats that lagged behind the swarm so that they'd pop out just as he is doing the Cool Guy No Look Walk Away from his explosion and burst his bubble a bit. Seems to be her style but I think the test she just gave Rain was a straight one even if it was his most favored scenario. Its one that others are weak enough at to force them to run or die even if they do better against strong single targets.

By the time he reaches the requirements for that skill, he would most likely have the respected Ward Aura. Which would make a much better combo than two damaging auras.

Finally Rain gets to show off a bit, hm it would really be good if he gets the skill to use more than one aura at the time he could offset immolate/refrigerate effect in his surrounding with one another or purify while burning freezing everything else that's far.

this is just what I hate : a cool moment where the subsequent reaction is skipped

relative badassery at least. They'd probably be less impressed if they knew he got hurt by his own spell. Gonna be real nice when he gets prismatic intent and can keep the ward for whatever offensive aura he's using going at the same time, so he doesn't have to worry about the mageburn.
