Its to avoid very simple bot grabbers but if a person does a manual copy and upload it yeah this won't work. I would assssssssume copyright laws and lawsuits would be effective at stopping it to some degree but supposedly Patreon can't do it so maybe the author can't either?

If it's to avoid bots\people grabbing your chapters it's seems to have the opposite effect. I just checked the site that does grab stuff from Patreon and someone might've been thoroughly annoyed by the new chapter posting method you chose, cause the latest chapter is up on it already. While both previous chapters were put there after a week at best.
