2020-10-02 03:10:52 +0000 UTCStaavo had an interesting line about Rain “wasting exp unlocking every skill tree”. As far as we know there’s no other use for exp while capped, so why would he consider unlocking trees to be waste? I wonder if there’s something more here.

2020-09-28 11:39:32 +0000 UTCNot to mention his choice of support roles is pretty shortsighted. In every encounter we've been in , a Geomancer type support class that could shape the terrain to his will would have been astronomically more effective than a healer. With the enemies here obeying lolgame logic instead of being actual thinking entities, I feel area control/denial would be the best option for a support class. I also think the 'game logic' thing was a bit of a mistep as it takes a good deal of the mystery/tension out of the encounters. I mean, the entire reason we skipped those other 8 encounters was because both the readers and the characters knew exactly what was going to happen.

2020-09-27 22:28:16 +0000 UTCI think the strength of the novel is the system and the characters interaction with it. My only minor qualm with this chapter is I think opportunities were missed with "Chemical Malefactor" (buffs, crowd control, other support skills, etc.) when it could have just been a "flex" support role. Or you could have placed another emphasis on the importance of crafters for the company overall. My big problem is I keep finding Rain less interesting as a character now that he keeps trying to be perfect and things keep "working out." The change was too abrubt and suddenly being an expert Guilder with other Guilders taking his lead (I can see the unawakened), forcing democracy in a world without the same values/education, shutting down the Tarney cult, a mutual love story with no real conflict...I don't know, it's eyebrow raising for me.

2020-09-27 21:11:12 +0000 UTCHis DPS isn’t ‘real’, though. It’s AoE. Based on how the system of resistances world, his damage is really there to inflict debuffs and prevent regeneration. That’s why Discombobulate is going to be particularly important for his offensive auras imo. Otherwise, he’s sustain utility. His partymates can focus on being absurdly single-task oriented while he ups survival/sustain/speed/etc. as needed. He’s very clearly support.

2020-09-27 17:31:24 +0000 UTCas the dungeon is just a day old, i think the blue's level would have grown given time.

2020-09-27 17:01:25 +0000 UTCfor the stated level this dungeon was way OP and deadly, no? Surprised the blue is that low, tbh. Is the level of the blue random, I wonder?

2020-09-27 16:17:37 +0000 UTCYou can't do this, it was mentioned in the past (I can't remember when), the maximum number of people you can awaken from a blue is the max size of a party at least that is what I remeber
Sunless
2020-09-27 13:40:27 +0000 UTCmm thinking what stop him for trying to awaken max people possible, like the wolf his gangroped and cant move a inch, move him at the very entrance of the lair, get all people in line, people move in the lair one by one have a "little weapon" for minimum damage poke the wolf get out of lair, rince and repeat when all have damaged the wolf the last 8 people in the lair finish him off, poff fight with the blue over with 45 people included in damage and now all awakened, gg wp, what stop this strategie? for what we know on the law of world nothing block this (if some shit block this for lair, he can do the same thing with a blue outside of lair (paralyze the blue and let all people poke him) (i dont remember having seeing writing in the novel a part when blue can only awaken a "party" (8) number of people max)

2020-09-27 13:17:09 +0000 UTCThis was the best chapter in a long time, from my perspective. Plot advancement, engagement with the magic system, no wasted words. Great job. I'm glad I stayed a patron.

2020-09-27 13:10:13 +0000 UTCNow where does Rain fit in this. He has buffs debuffs and dps. His attacking auras almost always come with a debuff, which in the higher levels will be more valuable than the damage they deal. His buffs either concentrate on sustain power, defense or, in the case of velocity or the kingdoms, increased efficiency. So yeah, his build is a bit all over the place.

2020-09-27 08:22:05 +0000 UTCBecause he intentionally uses them to frame the discussion and the roles. He wants to avoid the common rumors and misunderstandings present in existing terms.

2020-09-27 08:02:51 +0000 UTCFind it awkward when Rain uses phrases like 'DPS and 'debuff.' He know he's is talking to people who don't understand these terms. Why not just use terms like 'damage' and 'weaken?' Anyone who has had to explain something genre specific knows you can't use the lingo but more generic terms.

2020-09-27 07:59:42 +0000 UTCI'm wondering if we could get a small list / glossary of all known or planned skills that rain is aware of so we could make our own builds and experiment
Garrett Johnson
2020-09-27 07:47:28 +0000 UTCYeah, out of those 15 new awakened they really should get at least one crafter. We've seen what Myth and Reason can do even with very few levels.

2020-09-27 06:50:01 +0000 UTCI'm surprised no talk of crafting builds came up. Obviously he wants to have the first awakened be able to round out a normal party, but he's having them all think about "what kind of awakened they want to be." Perfect time to bring up that people can choose to be creators/crafters and not get left behind or made slaves or whatever if that's what they want. That shit is just as important to have in your guild as fighters. More so, at times. Anyways! Tons of exposition, but I enjoyed the delivery. I was wondering what kind of party formation we'd be looking at, generally.

2020-09-27 05:49:26 +0000 UTCNice chapter, I think you did well by skipping their return from the lair. Excited to see who will awaken and how their builds will shape up, it's been a while since our last skill dump.

2020-09-27 05:38:31 +0000 UTCfinally, Carten's plan is revealed. I hope we get to see some of the talks about specific builds. Would be cool to get confirmation on what skills go to which trees, though im sure its really complicated to plan out. specifically i wonder about the mute skill, it was only mentioned a handful of times but its my personal favorite of "unknown" skills. Like how does it scale? is it 3x regen at lv1 or lv10? Also I think It would be funny if it also made you unable to talk but i know the mute is probly just in reference to not using skills

2020-09-27 05:38:03 +0000 UTCIn my opinion, some of the chapters are too disjointed. I have had to look at a previous chapter because I thought I missed a chapter. For example maybe put a paragraph in the beginning that "they continued to fight the turtles and no other monsters showed up and they reached the core. They went back and called a meeting, " or something like that.

2020-09-27 05:36:38 +0000 UTCI think you might have cracked the code for me SS. A lot of litrpg novels feel dull after a while with a few exceptions. I realize now that the main character's interaction (and often exploitation) of the system is what draws me in, but it's how the cast or characters and world interact with the system that keeps me reading. Having Rain get involved with helping others perfect their builds scratches the 'numbers go up' itch without pushing our main character into absurdity. Because this is Rain's company I am much more invested in everyone's future builds.
