Patreon Discord Servers and how to opt-out of automatically joining if you're a supporter or consider supporting (in case I open one).
Added 2024-11-18 19:50:41 +0000 UTCHiya, I just wanted to make this little public post for everyone about how you can opt-out of automatically joining Patreon Discord servers you might not have any interest in (assuming your Patreon and Discord are connected).
Patreon has two types of user profiles: Member and Creator. (You don't have a creator profile unless you run your own Patreon)
So here's what you do:
Go to your Member profile -> Settings -> More -> Connected Apps -> Discord
Here you can choose which server to either leave or join. If you don't want to automatically join one of these servers as a supporter, click "Leave Server". Simple as that.
A trick you can do before supporting to someone who has a Discord linked to their Patreon is to first become a free member so you can "leave" the server before you are even eligible to join it.
I am saying all this because I have been working on a Discord server lately (which I may or may not launch at all). So if I were to connect it to my Patreon, I don't want to cause an inconvenience for you who might not have any interest in joining. It is likely not a Patreon exclusive server, but I want to give supporters some nice name colors and exclusive channels where I can post my art more easily and immediate... Maybe even take quick sketch requests? We'll see ~
