BAND-MAID - PAGE (3-way reaction)

Maybe I'm just a sucker for ballady type songs.

Maybe I just think the Maids have such a knack for performing a producing ballads.

I think it's both.

This one's got a hold on me. I have been humming it since I recorded it and I can't get it out of my head!

One of only 3 songs ever that brings a tear to my eyes. My favorite Band-Maid song. Period. They've yet to play it at any okyuji I've attended. Hopefully one day

So here is my take on the song.... Prior to the Conqueror album was the World Domination album, and that followed was a World Domination tour that started in 4/4/2018 thru 2/14/2020. Conqueror to me is a album that BAND-MAID Conqueror the world, and PAGE being the first song on the album, is them basking in their glory over the landscape.

I hated this track for a long time. It's a ballad (which I generally don't like as much), it's extremely poppy and whiney and I just can not stand how it starts with the autotuned vocals, which made me really dislike the Conqueror album for a very long time, it almost made me stop listening to the album when I just bought it (I still think it was a terrible decision to put this track as the first song of the album). That said, I noticed during the Christmas Acoustic session that I didn't mind it as much. Now, that might have been because it was 3 or 4 am when that session started in my timezone and I drunk wine for Christmas, but I think it works pretty well going back to that Acoustic albums countless times. I still would rank it pretty low on the Band-Maid scale, but it certainly passed a couple of their other ballads that I never really cared for (*cough* Daydreaming *cough*). They did a great job with all the ballads on that acoustic set actually, I have way more appreciation for all of them (like "At The Drop Of A Hat", which I really couldn't stand before either). I think "Smile" is the only one of them that I still have a hard time listening to, even in the acoustic version. Btw, that acoustic album is probably my favourite Band-Maid album. Edit: as some more info, Miku didn't used to play on the albums. Kanami recorded everything (with Miku's guitar) and learned Miku to play the songs for when they were going to perform Live. I have no idea if that has changed recently (Miku is certainly a very capable guitar player now), but it certainly was the case around this time from what I have read. Edit 2: As far as Akane's drum goes, it's possible it's a second snare with a trigger attached to it. A trigger on a drum can be mapped to whichever electronic sample you want, basically creating an electronic drumkit. So it's not necessarily the mic that does this, but an electronic trigger, which basically translates virbations to 0 or 1 and is programmed to trigger at a specific point. It's similar to what they use on electronic drumkits and it is used a lot in metal. Mostly on kickdrums (I wouldn't be surprised if Akane uses it as well for her kick) for bands with a lot of double bass kicks, but also on snares for drummers that do a lot of very fast blastbeats because it is a way to keep the sound of all the hits similar in volume. And yes, the thing above that looks like a drumpad. I am still not a huge fan of the sound, but I do appreciate her playing it like that live. Ok, looking at that drum under it, it might be a snare of an electronic kit instead of a triggered acoustic drum. It has this plastic-style black rim. Edit 3: Richard N already explained Okyu-ji, but concert is just コンサート (konsaaruto), so basically the English word. They also use ライブ (Raibu -> Live) as a word for a concert. So if they say Live video, it means that the video is taken from a concert, not necessarily that the music is live like we would.

A Band-Maid concert is called a "serving" (お給仕 Okyu-Ji).

A Rocking lullaby... same tought i had listening to this song. Precious... It put my mind in a comfortable place Also, now Band Maid have quite a catalog of songs, and some fall out fo the 'spotlight' at some point, just because there are too many.. But what amuses me about BM, is that you can pick a song like this, and after loong time be amazed again (falling in love again and again...well, that could also be insanity!?! ).
