BAND-MAID - without holding back (instrumental)

It's nice to revisit the the white room instrumentals!

I have heard the opening before in one of Ohrenje's documentaries, which may have been the Kanami one in particular.

Now, after looking through the score and seeing the words...I am so curious what the song with that section sounds like. It's only about 8 measures that were cut out, BUT STILL!

I love the melody that Kanami created here and as usual, Misa, Miku and Akane are all killing it in their own ways. I am always amazed to follow along and see the work done in their parts and there is so much to see.

Brava to these ladies!

Destiny sent her the book with the CD, as far as I understand. The white room version of "without holding back" was on the Unseen World DeLuxe version, on a separate Blu-Ray.

"Egyptian pentatonic" ? I think that's phyrgian mode, yeah? :)

I know "Without Holding Back" while being a composed, structured, and scored, really sounds like an impromptu jam session. It sounds like they're having fun just goofing around.

Yeah this is my favorite instrumental of theirs... so far! Also, I don't know if you know this or not... since you have the physical disc you should have access to not only the composite video you just watched, but isolated white room performances for each of the 4 members.

Herman Li played along to this song, when he auditioned to join BAND-MAID ;)

Whenever I'm feeling down or sad, I just watch the Akane-cam version of this song and all is good in the world ;)

I'm a layman in music theory but, as you, other reviewers have said this solo uses the Egyptian scale.

This is my favorite instrumental, like you mentioned it just sounds so positive and driving. Always gets my hyped

Ugh. You’re right. Second look at it, it’s a G harmonic minor scales starting on D moving over that d minor chord. My ears like to hear pentatonic scales so I opted for that choice. I should’ve actually did the theory. 😅 Thank you for this!

NittPicc

I don't think it is "pentatonic", for me the solo sounds more like a "harmonic minor scale", I don't think minor pentatonic would sounds like that
