Yvette Young - parachute (acoustic with Covet version!)

I didn't think I was going to have "feelings" when I started listening to this song, but the tone of the guitar and the sound of her voice and then the introduction of the violin sent me over the edge.
Honestly, there is something so simple and pure about this song that really tugs at my heart strings, but makes me happy at the same time. Let me know what you think, but I hope this song brings you the same joy I felt.
If you enjoy Covet, I would recommend Tricot (pronounced as toriko in Japanese -> tree-koh) as an amazing Japanese math rock band (even though they hate that term, they call themselves alternative rock). I couldn't get into them the first time I heard them, but I loved their 右脳左脳 MV when I first watched it and they have become one of my favourite Japanese bands relatively quickly after that. I don't remember which track I didn't like either, I love most of what they do. Their newest 2 albums are a bit weaker (not bad at all with still some great tracks), but their 2011 to 2020 releases are all amazing.

Just an addendum to my comment:
Covet is touring Japan this month with Suichu Spica as the opening act. So the connection between the two artists is closer than I realized. All the more reason to check out Suichu Spica!

I'm so glad you checked out both versions! I love them both equally because they're very different vibes. The acoustic version is incredibly intimate and emotional while the recorded version is boppy and groovy. And we know another composing guitarist who's good at this stuff, right? :D So, yeah, my dream album is her and Kanami collaborating.

As far as Covet, she says they're still gonna do stuff together in the future. But she's doing solo stuff right now and few years ago there was a band shake-up and both the drummer and bassist were replaced, so those are reasons why people might think the band is dead.

Beautiful. It has that ethereal sound that open tunings can enhance. She's very talented.

Thank you! Yvette Young has been on my musical periphery, but this song has escaped me (till now). I had been rediscovering YY because I discovered someone that is heavily influenced by by her. Chiaki from the band Suichu Spica has very similar playing and singing styles. And even plays the same model guitar.
I would love to hear your opinion on this song “Oshiroi”. Is it plagarism or homage or ???
