Maximum The Hormone (II) - Let's talk about the future of katakotori noodles

Gout happens when uric acid builds up in your system. Usually it can mess with your toes or something? Anyway...

This song was written what seems like a response to some flack given to Maximum the Ryokun for taking his declining health into his own hands and making some healthy changes in his life.

No one's body is a topic of discussion, EVER! ...and this is how you respond to those who don't want to see you succeed.

I loved this track!

Maximum The Hormone (II) - Let's talk about the future of katakotori noodles

I just gave one of their albums a spin again after this reaction (I just felt like listening to them after this) and it reminded me of an other band called 打首獄門同好会 (Uchikubigokumon-Doukoukai or Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai). The name is somewhat unfortunate for Western fans since I have to always look it up, but the band itself has a lot of similarities to MTH. Their music is also infused with humor and goes from punk/hard rock/metal infused with whatever else they came up with. They have multiple vocalists including a female singing drummer and use different styles of vocals and both bands have been around for a while, early 2000's (MTH) and mid 2000's (打首獄門同好会). They don't get a lot of reactions to them, but they are worth checking out since they have very good tracks and and some of them (while very different musically) have very funny music videos like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv6shy_9KVM (this version has English subs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJwR4iHxKV0 (English subs) Those are not really representative of their typical music, but show that they are very versatile. Edit: Just thought of an other one that has prety humorous lyrics, a little more to the punk side but also with both styles of vocals with a drummer who does extra vocals. ヤバイTシャツ屋さん (Yabai T-shirts yasan) play a mix of Punk Rock/Hardcore punk with Pop-Rock/Pop and a mascot that reminds me of Towelie from South Park who is basically a tank-top. A lot of their lyrics are about Tank tops from what I can gather and they tend to add pretty silly vocals which I assume is supposed to be the tank-top mascot. This all sounds pretty stupid, but I own a couple of their live Blu-rays and they are actually very good musicians as well.

Maximum the Hormone ... or Maximum the Hormone 1 if you will is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmfUyyUL07A

PANIC

BTW, Koi no Sperm is LIVE and the crowd shots are the best parts IMHO. When we tell you MtH is HUUUGE in Japan this is what we mean ;) . I think your kids would love this ... their parents ... maybe not :p .

Yes, Nao Kawakita, sister of Ryo, is seen throughout this video. She plays ALL the female parts except the dancers seen far right and far left in the workout sequences. MtH has always had a pop/punk side to them as well. Look no further than the song VAP or Koi no Sperm to see ;) . It is them through the entire song. As we have now discussed many times, genre flipping is in a LOT of Japanese music ... mostly because they don't see it that way.

PANIC

Oh you can bet that them doing the funky workout music, MTH is well know for mashing genre. The popy song we hear at the start of the MV, when you see some old vids of Ryo, is another music they made as a joke saying they will stop playing metal, before the video switching to them playing as usual (don't quote on me for that, but I think that was the song "maximum the hormones" and that why this one as a 2 in it's name). For the woman singing, yep, that is the wonderful Nao, just like in Shimi. And the guy with the "love" cap, that is Ue-chan, the bassist of the band, generally without a shirt lol.

Apparently his doctor told him to get thinner. I read that there were plenty of older fans that complained that he got more healthy/thinner (no clue why) and this was basically an FU track to those fans. MTH has done this a couple of times like when some fans were afraid that they were going soft when drummer Nao (and yes, she is the "fitness instructor" here) got children. Ryo and Nao are siblings btw, he might have had some encouragement from her as well. Edit: the people at the end are the 4 members of the band, the guy with the hat on is their bassist Ue-Chang. I don't know if he created the electronic beats as well but I wouldn't be surprised. They are all very talented musicians without question.
