MIYAKO from LOVEBITES - How I create my heavy metal, pt. 1

💮Small note: After editing and watching my reaction back, I am not fully satisfied with what all I said. This cold didn't help this week. I apologize!
The oportunity to see the compositional process from Miyako was such a cool experience. I know this is only part 1 of a 3 part series, but the fact that she could create what she did in an hour is crazy fast! Her piano skills seriously helps with her ability to write fast.
I will also say that since she adds string backing to the band sound, I now know why Miyako had a computer close by when I saw them in Dallas. It's super cool knowing that she is in control of the whole process!
My understanding is, Miyako is a certified ProTools Operator, or maybe a Certified Expert. This means she has taken extensive courses and exams to prove her proficiency using ProTools. She is at the top level of ProTool users.

Seeing that they have such great abilities in composing makes me wish I could go back to kick my 8 year old ass for saying that “piano is for nerds!”
…I regret EVERYTHING. Lol.

I was really excited for this since I knew somewhat of what to expect, but seeing it actually happen was insightful.
When she started composing the drum parts alone, I don’t know why I thought she would use the keyboard to compose the guitar parts as well. I know you can plug in to record because I’ve done it before, but I guess I was just in awe of the moment.

I agree about Fami. I can see little hints of her taking them to new places and am curious to see where it goes. Miho era Lovebites seemed to be all about the guitars. I hope they make room for Fami.

Glad you enjoyed this! I definitely recommend the other two parts. Seeing the rest of the song come together is really cool!

I’m a MOTU Digital Performer user. Not as industry standard as Pro Tools…but also not as expensive.
Shameless plug for my modest home studio stuff:

I like to see that both Miyako and Kanami compose on the piano. That gives a totally different level to their music.

Not sure if you recall, Kanamincho writes the drum parts for Band-Maid too... If you look at their band camp video, Kanami was working on pro-tools on the laptop as well.
Side note: To me, Lovebites has yet to fully understand and assimilate the genius of their new bassist Fami. The bass parts that they are putting out are still Miho level, which is outstanding, but Fami is totally on another level and it would be great if they could use that talent to elevate their music further...
