That bit at the start you thought might be the shamisen is either purely electronic/sample based or heavily manipulated/altered in the studio. Both Machiya (guitar/2nd vocals) and Asa (bass) have production backgrounds with vocaloid music, so are very used to using all kinds of sample & electronic sounds within their writing and not adverse to dropping stuff like that into WB songs. Similarly Wasabi's drums are present even earlier in the song than you might think, what he's playing to keep time is heavily filtered to quite a narrow EQ band, kept low in the mix and treated like he's manually replicating a short drum loop sample. In their more ballad-y songs he's often very restrained in terms of the arrangements. I wouldn't say Machiya's guitar solo has much in the way of EVH vibes outside of the strum-style tremolo picking at the end, which is a variant on a frequently used technique by Eddie. Both the guitar tone and the sliding to target notes type melody is far more Steve Vai-esque (who TBF did play with David Lee Roth for a couple of albums after he left VH), it's very reminiscent of the kind of things he does in his slower more atmospheric songs like For the Love of God.

Yuko's voice leaves me speechless everytime I hear it, Machiya's solo is so good, etc... Everything about this song is perfection imo I can put it on repeat close my eyes and feel like I'm drifting amongst the clouds while I'm falling asleep lol Now do Queen of Night, another really beautiful song by them. There is an absolutely gorgeous live version on Youtube from their 2021 Dai Shin Nenkai show I can't recommend enough to wtach, other reactors used it and it doesnt get blocked there's also an MV but less safe blocking wise.
