I loved listening to this really set off a fire in my music brain. The chromatisism that is happening in this song is so strong withing the verses that it makes the song seem lost somehow. Then the choruses seem to be tonally stable. Crazy huh?
This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but that's okay. Think of this as your first music appreciation class and this was your first assignment, lol. What do you hear? What do you think?

Thanks for this reaction and your correct, it probably is not for everyone. I found it interesting and fun, but it's a bit out of the type of music that I listen to regularly.

They approach their music with massive amounts of humor that is indeed sometimes over the top (like the actual MV for this song). If you want a good example of what I mean the MV for DRONES is probably good ... as the card game reveal and the removal of Jack's fake moustache to uncover ... his actual moustache to end the video are hilarious. Your reaction was spot on in many respects ... their listed genre is simply "rock" which is laughable as they cover so many including rock ... funk, jazz, prog rock, pop rock, alt rock ... experimental may best sum it up. Someone once wrote "Heavy grooves & smooth pop melodies ... if you like just about any style of music, these guys can shred it, in suits, whilst hitting on your girlfriend." If you pick up any of their music on disc you will discover it is all so different. No song even remotely sounds like the other. It can all be found on BANDCAMP affordably. This song came off of "Death Monster Super Squad" and their latest is "Mixed Ape" (mix tape) ... see what I mean :p .
