DIH (동이혼) - Not Enough

This all lady Korean rock band is an absolute joy!

They have 2 guitarists, one bassist and a drummer. The instrumentals are clean, clear and concise and just overall in your face cool. The drummer's use of unique rhythms to capture the listener's attention as well as the lead singer's use of "out of style" guitar playing momentarily reels the listener back in for a second listen.

I am glad this was suggested to me as well Rolling Quartz! 🫰🏽

Esther is pretty active on her own drum channel now, other than SENA and maybe moreso, she has been tagged as the bands most "popular member". I think that may be due to her look ... which she has capitalized upon when naming her channel ... you can find it by searching estheryoon_dih but the actual channel name is "hamster playing drums" ... lol.

Esther (drums) and On_B (bass) are still pretty active with cover videos also, plus Esther has been in recent videos doing cover gigs with Sena. It's only really Pang.D (2nd guitar/rap) that's seemingly inactive, though she was always the least visible on socials.

They won't be back as DIH sadly. I think Sena owns the band name. She still performs and does covers on YouTube ... we will have to wait and see if the other girls surface somewhere.

It's a shame they had to go on hiatus. I like their sound so much more than the (imo) too polished sound and the overly poppyfied (for lack of a better word) looks of Rolling Quartz (they honestly should focus on their music instead of their looks). Don't get me wrong, I think it's really good that that band does well (it's good for all Asian bands) and I wish them all the best, also the members seem to be able to play. It's just that I prefer my music a little more raw myself and I think DIH does just that (I actually think they have some The Warning in their sound). I hope they can find a way to come back and survive. And hopefully I will then be able to get one of their releases on CD. As far as popularity in Korean goes, I have heard that rock bands in general are not popular in Korea for the most part. Apparently Korean people in general are not that interested in rock music, which is unfortunately something that you can see over a lot of the world nowadays.

The guitar maker with the birds on the fretboard is PRS (Paul Reed Smith) and actually sponsors Kanami of BAND MAID ;) . Zamaitis is a guitar brand started by British luthier Tony Zemaitis (ref https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zemaitis_Guitars ). They are now hand built in Japan. The ability to read Hangul is actually pretty rare :) . The band name is simply the pronunciation of all three letters ... DIH. DIH had both chemistry and charisma. There are VLOG posts on YouTube of the band interacting ... but they were severely underexposed due to their insistence on remaining only in their home market that is not very accepting of hard rock (even if it is excellent). The band is now on hiatus and claimed lack of $$$ ... but this was very much Sena's band and I think the other girls found the lack of success disheartening and tired of waiting for that big break. This song should have been the gateway but got very little international play sadly. You mention Rolling Quartz who immediately embraced a worldwide following and now has nearly 450,000 YouTube subs. DIH did the opposite and even with music like this just cracked 10,000. Huge drum kits are a very American thing. I rarely see that in any Asian band. I hate to keep dragging BAND MAID into this but look at Akane's kit. Just like her, Esther is able to do a lot with a little. Distracted again by the pinch harmonics :p . My other favorite member is Yujin with the Epiphone. If you do anymore by this band I may recommend their cover of Jessie J's BANG BANG which may actually be good for YouTube since the title is still searched. I'll just tell you Yujin converts the rap section into Korean ;) . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYWJXzo-Al8
