Ado - Unravel

Since this one was partially blocked on YouTube, I wanted to make sure that anyone who wanted to see it could.

I absolutely loved this one!

You can listen to this song live, but the reaction probably can’t be posted on YouTube using this link https://youtu.be/Q0tuVUEYLsY?si=QJ5PEg4bam7_DbiD

Have you listened to her normal songs? Not Unravel. For example, Dignity https://youtu.be/5FqfgWEhy9c?si=v1BC62dubQI-utSe

Ado is very popular, and there are many reactors I respect who truly adore her. But I don't know, for me... She sounds soooo... artificial. I can't help but reason within myself, like, OK, I understand the idea, in the modern times when all types of music seem to be already exhausted, she tries to sound different and thus attract attention. It clearly works, she does attract attention. But for me it does not look beautiful, what she's doing. She's got a very strong voice, and she definitely can sing in a normal way, she just does not want to. Those whispers, hitting wrong notes on purpose, sudden screaming... For me it does not express feelings, it just looks like she wants to sound different for the sake of different. I'm glad people like her and relate to her expressions. But for me... No. It just makes me scrunch my face each time she does it. "unravel" is a very popular song. I heard it the first time as a cover performed by ASTERISM, you can find it on their channel: https://youtu.be/CZ8aJPv616c Well, Ado can do those experiments with her voice, and I will not say it's wrong -- it's simply her decision to do it this way. But if HAL-CA would go into the same digressions on her guitar... That would sound plainly wrong. So, she's absolutely correct in avoiding it and playing the melody as it is, without any crazy stuff. All in all, no, I am afraid I will not be able to listen to Ado. It would keep me in a cursed loop of thinking, "Damn, why is she doing it?" This performance reminded me of Peter Hammill -- I consider him the greatest vocalist of all times. What can I compare "unravel" to... Maybe the crazy things Peter Hammill was doing on Robert Fripp's "Exposure." Like CHICAGO, for example: https://youtu.be/xSkO9UP3fR4 And Peter Hammill does the same vocal experiments in the right way, I would say. It's equally crazy as what Ado does, but to me it does not sound artificial. Thanks for listening to my rant πŸ˜’ I know it's a bad idea to criticize the music others love. But I really think in many cases people start to adore something simply because they have not heard other things, which have set the initial foundation. Sorry.

Ado starts out so vulnerable and sweet and then becomes a powerhouse of emotion on a level I don't think U have heard before. If I were in that audience with the lights and the sound I wouldn't know if I were in heaven or hell!

Bill Hallisey

Might be my favorite vocal performance. Ado is amazing.

My absolute favourite from Ado is "Tot Musica". That's the song I use to introduce Ado to friends. Second is "Crime and Punishment". To me, the rest somehow don't compare to these 2 no matter how intense they are. Maybe it's the musicality of those 2 songs.

Love Ado, but I have to take her in little bites. So emotionally draining. And yes, no one has seen her.

I think the first time she screamed she was saying hottokenai wich my limited japanese knowledge say it means something like "leave me alone"

Gustavo Campanelli

The most incredible vocal control I have ever heard, and I'm old.

This is a demonstration of what she can do with her voice. Her songs are always different and at the same time sounding familiar ... like some American pop ( not this one) ... And her voice craft is always outstanding. I can recommend many songs from Ado but maybe you should try "Show" next πŸ˜… And yes: Ado is anonymous. You will not see any real Ado anywhere ...
