BAND-MAID - Unleash

The maids have won over my heart with this one! The homage to Sailor Moon made the little girl in me super excited! Honestly, it was the crossover I wanted and I got it! 💗🕊️

I want to know everyone's opinion about this one. After doing research on the song and thinking about it after recording, I could see why, MAYBE, that this one isn't a fan favorite.

So many of their songs showcase their members in a much larger capacity so when you hear this one where it's not Akane's hardest or wildest performance, Misa is being Misa but not giving us a killer solo, and Kanami's solo seems short compared to the other tracks I've heard (not counting early works), I can see why it can fall "flat." I do find Saiki and Miku's singing unique and exciting in this one though. Their performance together creates an awesome power dynamic with them backing each other up.

...either way...I'm a fan of it. I am serious about needing a poster of that final scene in the music video!

I'm very late to this party, but I'll point out that the metrics seem to show this is indeed a fan favorite. The MV was the fastest ever to 1M views (now at 3.5M), and it's the #6 BM song according to Spotify's "popularity" metric. It has become a live staple and was the opener for the Jan. 2023 show at Tokyo Garden Theater which was their biggest show ever at that point. It's great live (I've seen it 7 times). The sudden vocal start is especially effective live IMO, and it's got a good audience sing-along part. I love Kanami's solo. To me it's unique in the way it's almost entirely a melodic solo to the point where it almost doesn't seem like a solo per-se ... until you see it live.

MISA MISA MISA!!!!! MISA MISA MISA!!!!! I LOVE this song but some don't like the Guitar tone Mincho is using

If I remember correctly, during an interview each member was asked about their favorite anime. I believe Saiki said her favorite was Yes, ‘Salior Moon’.

My goodness, what a squeak!!!!! Lol

I agree with hanging out with each of them for an off day. That would be a hell of a lot of fun. As a musician, I bet you would love to hang out with Kanami to understand her compositional and arranging skills.

Oh yes, ASTERISM! I currently listen mostly to only these two bands, BAND-MAID and ASTERISM. ASTERISM is not instrumental-only anymore, but so far, I am not such a great fan of their songs with vocals. They are nice, but while in instrumental music they just off the charts spectacular, in singing they are quite an average band. If you want a real treat, dear NittPicc, you should listen to their concept album GUERNICA. Or should we call it "rock opera"? 🤔 I would recommend first to read the story of Guernica, then you will understand what the songs are about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Guernica The names of the songs on this album actually refer to the events of that bombing: 3rd EP GUERNICA 2020.12.9 配信リリース M01:MUSIC M02:Gunfire M03:Faced/ Burned M04:Church M05:Day26 M06:000 https://asterism.asia/discography/detail/guerinica.html I just looked at my statistics on Last.fm, and I see that I listened to this album almost a thousand times. It's really an amazing masterpiece, a real contribution to the treasury of world music. ASTERISM just released a new album, PLANET OF METAL. But I listened to it only once so far. It's very proggy, and pretty strange at times. But I have a feeling I will love it, I do love prog rock... and prog metal even more so.

Great reaction . Asterism did a anime ep in 2022 covering popular anime theme songs . Their version of Tokyo Ghoul Unravel is great . https://youtu.be/CZ8aJPv616c?si=nBdPBuEDVtq8xZck

For the poster, you need this one: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/7d/57/a6/7d57a6c602d9c7212b19393d664c5cb6.jpg They have released this one for Budokan, although it was cancelled afterwards. But I think the posters were actually sold online, probably many people still have them.

Watch Wave Potter's analysis of this MV: https://youtu.be/Hr8suSR6BNg?si=vCx_rHdDWCfZZLYN He makes a very deep analysis, picking up almost all Easter eggs and hidden meaning in it. Kanami vs Mincho. Many Western fans tend to read too much into it. They often say that when Kanami goes crazy on her guitar, she is switching to "Mincho Mode." In fact, it's an artificial separation. Japanese fans explained that it's just a common way of creating a "pet form" of a name. If you want to call "Kanamincho" as a little cutie, you call her "Mincho." Miku suggested during their first Online OKYUJI (it was July 23, 2020, when BAND-MAID did their first professional live stream on ZAIKO platform) that people use a hashtag #MinchoAwakens: #みんちょ覚醒 You may read the full translation of the MC section here (by hawk-metal): https://www.reddit.com/r/BandMaid/comments/hw8qqq/-/fyyrmor There is also a recording of this historical OKYUJI available. It took me some time to find it, but here it is: https://video.ploud.jp/w/nrC6MtVkAf2nfVyCfx6t4J nothing is lost in Internet 😎

Nice reaction and the dark shadows sort of represents covid, which in Japan came in two waves, so you see the first one, locking them away, then Miku flying around like it's over, but then it came back harder. They have said in interviews that it was very hard being separated from each other during this period. They said they used to call each other all the time and just leave the call open for all day. The video also shows when they started doing live streams, both for themselves and for the sans. Then finally they are :unleashed" (sailor Moon part).
