TRiDENT - Voltage

All I knew about this band going into it was that the drummer in this band has recently left. I have questions that I want answered, but besides that, I really enjoyed this performance!

I did find that Junna was stuck in my ears due to her epic skills and powerful drumming, but the other members after listening back again, I really liked the riff that Asaka started and ended the song with. Also that nice bass solo done by Serina was a delight to listen to in the bridge.

I am going to need more TRiDENT suggestions because I would be interested in seeing what the new group is sounding like and what Junna is now up to!

...and just in case you were interested, I translated the lyrics on screen. I translated what I saw vs what I believe the words to be. I don't want to change a song that they created and make it into something that I think it means.

(RAW) ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

A cold look with a dull light

kills the frustration that stopped.

Hatred overflowing,

humiliation spilled disturb the heartbeat.

If you have no wings,

keep your feet on the ground ready for the challenge of battle.

Come on,

don't stop moving,

expel your voice towards the strong one that carries the future in an explosion of energy.

We will go in body and soul,

getting up again and again giving everything.

Keeping my way of walking (keeping it my way road)

There is no time to get stuck in reluctant days.

Revenge is also a livelihood.

Release the limit and run freely in incomparable mode.

Get your feet out of the group of counterfeiters that accompany you.

Cut them down,

destroy them burn them believe in your own strength and face the world.

Keeping my way of walking (keeping it my way road)

No matter how many times you get knocked down,

get up battle-hardened and carry on.

Come on,

don't stop moving,

(isn't it better to) expel your voice towards the fierce one that grabs the light?

With all our body and soul,

we will crawl from the bottom of the earth and continue attacking.

Keeping my way of walking (keeping it my way road)

Come on,

don't stop moving,

expel your voice towards the strong in an explosion of energy.

We will go in body and soul,

getting up again and again giving everything.

Keeping my way of walking (keeping it my way road)

I love Spoopy....... And Hagane's "Wintry Sky" ( which oddly isn't so popular ).

Ok ... so first let me say thank you for the Spanish to English translation. It is much appreciated :) . Pigtails and drumsticks ... or Coletas y baquetas ;) . There is an interview from May 2020 where JUNNA states she is a "freelance drummer" so she had clearly left the band by then. Coincidentally that is the same month it was reported that NAGISA had joined TRiDENT as their new drummer. The girls (JUNNA SERINA, and ASAKA) met in high school. As I told you the band was originally formed as Girls Rock Band Kakumei ... I am not sure who thought that one up :p . Had they stayed together the other girls would have simply become known as JUNNAs support band. They were not as strong as JUNNA as you can see here. There are several of their old songs on that channel this vid came from, all with Romanji and Spanish subtitles like this one. I think the new (rebranded) TRiDENT was just simply ready to move on from anything JUNNA ... maybe the label was involved in the decision ... but that is speculation on my part. I have never seen any publicized dislike between the girls. TRiDENT has grown significantly without JUNNA, and SERINA and ASAKA have blossomed as musicians and as a band. The band TRiDENT is now pretty successful, but sadly underrated. I am not sure why that is but some speculate it is because they use a lot of backing music (I don't mind). The bands first "break" after JUNNA left was the song "Ambivalent". I see someone already mentioned it ... it showed the band could produce a great song without JUNNA - the first hurdle. In the DISCORD I suggested the song SPOOPY because I think that song really is the first indication that NAGISA "had arrived" as JUNNAs replacement and was an extremely capable drummer... and it's just damn fun to say :p . You will enjoy just about anything from post-JUNNA TRiDENT. As for JUNNA, someone has also mentioned the cover of Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" which really was the thing that put her on the map. Even Drum Roll Tony reacted to it ;) . You should see it as a stand-alone vid if you really want to appreciate why people love JUNNA so. Be sure to check out her socks :p . She has gone on to really become a freelance drummer, offering seminars and working with younger people who want to learn to drum. She sat in last year for a steampunk metal band known as FATE GEAR when their actual drummer was not available. FATE GEAR will tour Canada this August and I will finally get to meet JUNNA in person at their show in Toronto as the band needed a replacement for the full time drummer who could not join them on the trip. While that was a great announcement it has also been publicized that JUNNA is now officially the drummer for the metal group HAGANE (REBOOT). Hagane is STEEL in Japanese. The original HAGANE was a great band formed in 2018. The original HAGANE broke up a year ago when 3 members (Vo. Uyu, Gt. Mayto and Dr. Kanako) left and many speculated that the band may just cease to exist ... now with the addition of JUNNA at drums and an unknown vocalist named NAGI, they join original members SAKURA on guitar and SAYAKA on bass ... and will release their first EP titled "Life Goes on!" ... TODAY!!! I'm not sure what to expect. I'd suggest the song Supervillain if you want to hear what the old HAGANE sounded like. https://trident-japan.com/ https://www.hagane-official.com/

It’s a bummer that this MV is not available on Trident’s YT channel anymore. Once you get a couple more Trident reactions uploaded, you should check out Asaka’s side gig with the Gibson Replays band & Epiphone Replays band over on the GibsonTV & EpiphoneTV YT channels. They mainly do covers of anime songs (including the theme from Bocchi the Rock). But, my favorite is this one… https://youtu.be/l1E_S8d4YQQ?si=Hdfi4W8vNTSq1GPy

All of these suggestions…written down!

I agree that Junna overpowered the other 2. And I feel she belongs in a more metal band like Hagane Revived. Can't wait for them to put out their new songs!

I second Juan San's recommendation of "Ambivalent" (live) next. Cause... Live Trident is better Trident. 😏 Lol..... And you'll see the band gel better with a less fiery ( but still technically extremely proficient) drummer. And the bass in this song... ... ... You've got to experience it!

Trident is an excellent band. I'm going to sound like a heretic, but I think they sound better with a less flammable drummer than Junna. The band currently has Nagisa since 2020. A few days ago they uploaded to YT a collaboration between Nagisa (Trident), Fami (Lovebites) and Nishizawa (EXiNA), I leave you a link to a cover of the famous song Glamourous Sky: https ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRnqQ1H2SZc

There's never been any confirmed rumors about Junna leaving the band. Their new drummer is amazing also, but in a most restrained may. and it may be that Junna was too overwhelming. Junna has her own YT channel where she covers a lot of songs. The one that went viral was a cover of DragonForces "Through the fire and flames" and was reacted to by the drummer of DF - this is that video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2M2Hv5GuSn4
