Gacharic Spin - I Wish I (Official Live MV)

This performance threw me for a loop. I was not expecting that opening due to past reactions, but then it got pretty crazy from then on!
I love this song. Mainly because of how all members are not only instrumentally involved, but they are vocally involved as well. Each one of them brings a different sound to the band and again that use of organzied chaos is just on point! Their soloing over the chord progressions all at the same time create this mass wall of sound that the listener cannot help but try and single out a different member to listen to each listen.
Purely. Epic.
Yuri, the drummer don't sing much, but you can hear her in the songs "Limit breaker" and "Redline".
The only one that don't sing alone but do background vocals is Koga the bassist.

Also thought y'all might find this interesting with regards to the lyrics, again taken from an interview about the self titled album in Skream! Alternative Rock Magazine - September 2021:
" -- It's also similar to the lyrics of "I wish I". Angie wrote a blunt statement about her thoughts during the lockdown, didn't she?
Angelina1/3: I go on social media as a normal person, and when Corona started people weren't very open minded and they would bash others who had different opinions. That's where this chorus lyric comes from:
Can't anybody love me,
if I'm different from everyone else?
Angie: We all have our own solutions, so why do we try to force them on each other? The next lyric:
Before the flowing tears dry up
is about how I'd try not to let myself be hurt, but then I'd forget how I felt as the days went by, so I wanted to make sure this story was told before my tears dried up. I wanted to share these emotions in a song before I lost them.
KOGA: When you came to me with the lyric
The world is very beautiful.
I knew I wouldn't be able to say it. I thought that was Angie's sensibility.
Angelina 1/3: There are still a lot of wars and bullying, so I wondered if the world I live in is really a happy place. I try to find the beauty of the world inside me as I write music and lyrics, and if I'm going to live in this world I want to make it beautiful in my own way.
KOGA: In the past the band's image has been energetic and upbeat, but this time I wanted to show our dark, negative, and lonely sides. I think that makes the cheerful parts shine brighter, and it adds a personal touch to this album. "

Not entirely true, here's a quote from Koga in an interview about the self titled album in Skream! Alternative Rock Magazine - September 2021:
" --I thought "MindSet" would be the first song on the album, but it turned out to be an even hotter song called "I wish I". This is the lead song, isn't it?
KOGA: Yes, it is. The lead song of the album is "I wish I", so I made it the first song. It was only one chorus, but I've been playing it live as a kind of SE for a long time, so I thought it would be a good first song, like the start of a live show.
--What was the background behind the creation of this song?
KOGA: There was some of that. Once again I was reminded that the members have different preferences... For example, the opening melody of "I wish I" was written by Hana and me a long time ago, but we wanted to change the arrangement completely so we asked TOMO-ZO (Gt) to write a foundation (basic demo structure & arrangement) for it. When TOMO-ZO asked us what we thought as judges, sometimes we had different opinions. So how do we make the final judgement? All members give their opinions, but the person who writes the song foundation is the final judge. "
In terms of a timeline, it appears that the opening was originally written in 2010 and also a variation used as intro music on tour in 2013 (I believe that's what the SE is referencing, but haven't been able to fully confirm the acronym meaning).
Near enough every member of the current GS 5.0 lineup contributes to the writing process and it's usually hana (as the multi-instrumentalist) that handles the majority of the arrangement work.

And the author of the music for their songs is Tomo Zo, a guitarist. She makes the basic demo, then the others add their ideas

I need to learn how to properly pronounce”kawaii.” I keep saying it wrong and I’m so self conscious of it now. 😅

Obviously not super important but, kowai -> scary, kawaii -> cute.
I love Gacharic Spin, especially live. They have changed their sound a lot over the years and not everything from their old sound might be completely for me, but they are one of my favourite Japanese live bands without question and I absolutely love a couple of their newest releases. I really hope they can continue to grow in the West now that they are on Band-Maid's old label. They really deserve it after 15 years with a lot of changes and from what I have read some difficult times. They are such great musicians. Also, if you want to see most of them in some crazy outfits, check them out in their previous incarnations because they have had some crazy costumes over the years.

Great reaction and yes, organized chaos is a GS staple. Once they got Angie, they've been changing their writing style, in a good way. Angie, I believe is still very young compared to the rest of the band. F-Chopper (bassist) discovered her at a high school festival when she was a senior and she's now around 21 (the rest of the band are in their mid-30's). F-Chopper used to be a model before she founded GS with Hana (so she's more stylist).

Uuhh, one of my requests ;) I love the way Oreo's piano gently provides emotional support to Angelina 1/3's vocals. In your previous reaction, Hana played the drums because Yuri had the day off. Here she plays guitar, but can play whatever instrument she wants ;) And yes, Tomo Zo is using another PRS ;) hehe

As one reactor said, "I'm a 6-foot-tall man, but if Angie grabbed me, I'd be very scared..."

Great reaction and analysis, Nittpicc! I discovered these ladies right after discovering Band-Maid , and these 2 bands literally saved my life! What i really love about GS, is that just like our favorite maids, musically they never put themselves in the box and let every band member shine! Personally, i recommend reacting to their song Replica (https://youtu.be/4VGF9u7Hw5Y?si=EQ1rRew12Vfwni-d) great song and message! Or if you wanna see them having a blast at a live show, you can check out the song Tamashii (https://youtu.be/Jt7-GGRa3nc?si=ACka_PEFGSlr0F4K)
p.s sorry if i made any grammar mistakes (i’m not from english-speaking country 😅)

Glorious chaos!!. As the ineffable Sir Terry Pratchett said (I stand up): "Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought. It always defeats order, because it is better organized."

This song always hits me in the feels.🥲
For your next dive into the beautiful chaos, I would suggest the MV for “Let It Beat”. More group vocals, existential lyrics, and one of my favorite Tomo-zo guitar solos. Plus, they have an interesting choice of fashion on display…
