MUCC & BAND-MAID - Honey (comparison)

*NOTE: Unfortunately, the audio got screwed up due to the mic coming slightly unplugged from it's power source...I tried to fix this as much as I could! This is some bad luck, y'all.

We need more BAND-MAID covers. I'll leave it at that. Lol.

Here’s a Mucc video: https://youtu.be/sVZwZ9bRAfA?si=2Ff5lesSBS38_GW4

Happy Freight Dawg

Some extra background about this cover: Originally recorded for the (2 Disk - 24 song) 25th Anniversary "TRIBUTE OF MUCC -縁 [en]-" album (Disc 1 - Track #2) released on 11/22/2017. Included as a bonus track on the WORLD DOMINATION album. Played live once on 12/20/2017 at Rensa in Sendai when Band-Maid, Roach, and Hysteric Panic opened for MUCC. MUCC also later played the song, and Saiki joined them on stage. (The other two bands also played a MUCC cover, and their singer joined MUCC for the MUCC version later)

The best covers are different. If you're going to slavishly imitate the original, why wouldn't I just go listen to the original instead?

Whoa whoa whoa…THEY DID A SLIPKNOT COVER?!? I need this!

NittPicc

Don't hold your breath. This is their only ever studio cover. All of their other covers are live, and most they did in 2014 before they had a catalog of their own songs. One exception, there is a cover of a SlipKnot song out there live in studio, which they played online because they were scheduled to play Knotfest and it got cancelled during the pandemic.

I felt like the MUCC version had a more surfer vibe (except for the very last chord in the Band-Maid version), but the Band-Maid version kicks some serious butt - they don't mucc around.

I'll just sound redundant. MUCC version is all about attitude first, musicality second, much like the late 70's punk movement. Band-Maid added their own style where the attitude and musicality are showcased equally.

Hi NittP, I left a short message @ Direct Message. If you got some time can you take a peek. Hope everything(health) ok for You

Miku's little punk voice! Awesome!

You can hear why Akane and MISA loved doing this cover. It was easy for Kanami to cover.

Bill Hallisey

The MUCC version really reminded me of the mid-70's punk movement, like the Sex Pistols or the Remones. Band-Maid's version is more like a finely sanded down versions, smoothing out the rough edges and making it a whole new song.
