Wardruna - Helvegan

This song was such a beautiful experience.

I feel like this song can be really healing in a time of loss or ina time of rememberance of a loved one.

I really hope you all enjoy this one, and I cannot wait to dive into more music from Wardruna!

NittPicc, thank you. That was a beautiful, well crafted, and well preformed song that touches the heart. Wow.

They are a band I discovered a long time ago (probably close to 20 years ago). The vocalist and I think writer (Einar Selvik) was part of a pretty known black metal band called Gorgoroth in the early 2000's (he played drums). After getting into black metal, I went back to a bunch of somewhat related neofolk bands (since I got into black metal from the folk metal side) and discovered Wardruna and a bunch of other bands. I somehow stopped listening to Wardruna in particular for some reason and got back onto the train after I saw a reaction to them 4 or 5 years ago. I am not sure why I stopped listening because I always enjoyed them. A couple of other neofolk bands I discovered around that time include Tenhi (Finland, dark neofolk, but rockish) and Nest (Finland, there are other groups called Nest, one man project who uses a kantele). I basically never stopped listening to them and Tenhi in particular is one of my most listened to bands next to all the pretty extreme metal I listened to and now Japanese rock/metal. I don't know how good they are for a reaction, most people will probably not know or like them but you might enjoy them if you like more folkish stuff. There are plenty more, but those are probably my two favourites. Both groups help me relax and I actually use them to get in the right headspace before going to bed (the same with Wardruna). Other genres I use for that include ambient and downtempo electronica and modern classical (mainly piano driven).

A fine sunday morning review to reflect on life. We are mere walking bags of water and only leave impressions in this world so like you said, make it a good one.
