Li-sa-X (main lead guitar/band leader) and Kotono (singer, ex-Ironbunny and one time BabyMetal backing dancer) are both only 19, the drummer Kanade Sato is 22 (she turned professional as a teenager, her dad is also a successful drummer and acts as her drum tech) and Hazuki (guitar, also in Nemophila) is about to turn 29. This footage is from their first Japanese gig which was released as a limited edition bluray which sold out on pre-order. At the time of this gig Kanade wasn't an official permanent member, she was announced as such on the band's first anniversary back in December. They're currently working on their third EP, which'll be the first featuring Kanade. Originally they were hoping to have it ready for Hazuki's birthday gig on 16th August but it won't be finished in time. The bassist in this performance is Wakazaemon who alongside many session/support gigs, also plays in East of Eden and with Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth lead guitarist who's lived /worked in Japan since the early 00s). She's not a permanent member of the band but has been the support bassist for all their domestic gigs, with Lisa's younger brother playing instead for some last minute festival gigs in India when Wakazaemon's schedule didn't line up with theirs. The idea for the band was born out of a Polyphia cover Kotono did with the two guitarists and a Twice (K-Pop) cover/guitar heavy arrangement she then did with Li-sa. This was around the same time as they were having difficulties with the singer in their previous group Li-sa-X Band. Both songs are available on Li-sa's own YT channel.

Lisa-X is the composer and founding member of the band, she founded after her previous band (li-sa-x band) was disbanded, Lisa-X was kind of a child prodigy guitar genius kind, she is right now only 19 and was already vert popular from her guitar videos on youtube, she is soo good she was invited to play with many of the greatest guitarist like Kiko Loureiro and Polyphia (Tim Henson and Scott Lepage). Hazuki (who also plays in Nemophila) was part of her previous band and they started the band together with Kotono on vocals, and later Kanade Sato (who also was kind of another musician child prodigy) joined as a member, she is an amazing rock/jazz/fusion drummer

Wow! Another band to follow.

This just goes to show you that good jazz drummers are basically capable of playing whatever you ask them to do. Kanade Sato has been playing mainly jazz from when she was in her early teens or maybe just before, playing in her first jazz-fusion band (Ear Candy Jazz Factory) when she was 15 or so, and hasn't really stepped out of that until now that she joined Koiai. She is now 21 I believe. She does also play with guitarist Rie a.k.a Suzaku on her solo albums as well which is more hard rock/heavy metal, but I would still consider her a jazz drummer. This is something completely different (for Koiai as well to be fair).

Loopy NittPicc = best NittPicc?? :-)

True? My first instinct is to believe anything you say on these topics, ;) but this is the first I've heard of this

Who else is enjoying a slightly tipsy Princess NittPicc. I’m sorry I know it’s the medicine but you’re sounding really cute. Take care and get - completely well - soon!!

Thanks for taking a look at this band, it's relatively new (2023 I believe). The girl with the pony tail is the band founder, Lisa-X, a guitar prodigy since she was around 5 (she now 18?) when she picked up the guitar and started shredding. She is a extradentary guitarist as is the other guitarist Hazuki. They've worked together in a number of projects. The drummer Kanade Sato is another child prodigy starting around when she was 5 . Kanade is considered one of the top three female drummers in Japan, Senri Kawaguchi (age 27) is considered the best, followed by Yoyoka Soma (she's 14 now) and then Kanada (she 22). These musicians are some of the most talented in Japan and I really hope new project is a success for them.

Lol. No it wasn´t the opioids. The first impresion of this band is always "lisergic". They are a superband in the complete meaning of the concept.

Juan San

The band name is a "cute" misspelling of kawaii BTW ;) .

Written by Lisa-X: Once the words are uttered, they cannot be undone (So we choose our words carefully) Once the notes are played, they never come back (That’s why we practice so carefully) We all make mistakes There is no such thing as perfection But we won't stop talking We won't stop playing What was right yesterday is not necessarily right today I may be ashamed tomorrow of what I told you today But we won't stop walking We won't stop loving Once a picture is done, it should never be altered (Then it can't be completed forever) Let's paint a new picture Where I am today will become a trail tomorrow This song breaks my heart in a way. Kotono has such a wonderful voice and practices diligently ... but the nature of this particular performance buts her squarely in the background. I don't think I need to write anything about the musicianship. We all knew the potential for this band when the first tiny demo appeared on Lisa-X's channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBMZn8CCmpk

Hi Princess Nittpicc, Kotono is the vocals. Lisa-X and Hazuki ( her nickname is the librarian cause she looks like one and frequently has her spectacles hanging off the mic stand) are the 2 guitarists. Hazuki is like her mentor. This is Lisa-X: https://youtu.be/5YXpfcZy2Sk?si=ZXL0zC9jXVH3Mb3A Her style is very unique cause she likes fusion in a neo classical setting.KOIAI is her second band. The first one was simply called "Lisa-X band". If you don't have it on your reaction list, I'd highly recommend the song ”Looking up to you" where you can see her earlier work and how she has a tendency to blend genres. Anyway, love it that you're checking out KOIAI.
