Lisa-X - Looking Up To You

I understand what you all were telling me about the KOIAI video.

Lisa-X and Hazuki were both in the video.

...although, I will say that I am OBSESSED with the singer of this song. I NEED MORE RINA!

(don't mind the mistake of the layers in the thumbnail...)

Lisa-X - Looking Up To You

I'm not sure that Rina will be active again musically in any real capacity, she got married and has moved to South Korea. I think she was less committed than the guitarists anyway. Hazuki has played with Lisa since mid-2017 (around the time her first band Disqualia split up), so it pre-dates her involvement in Nemophila, plus with the near decade age gap between them, she has some definite older sister energy with their relationship. They just completed a short guitar clinic tour in Asia for Ibanez guitars. Li-sa-X Band struggled to gain much momentum as it always had to fit around Lisa's schoolwork, she wanted/agreed to complete her education before going full-time when she graduated and turned 18. As others have said, she started really young, partly cos her dad's a guitar teacher (though it never seemed forced, her younger brother plays as well and has performed both on guitar & bass onstage with her in the past). Her stage name comes from Racer-X, which was the speed metal band that guitar virtuoso Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big played in back in the 80s. She first went viral playing some of his songs aged 7 and he's ended up mentoring her over the years.

I was NOT expecting a fashionista breakdown of the clothes in a Lisa-X band reaction....... I think that's a world first. To me, Rina has a "church singer" voice. I love it so much and have listened to this one song soooo many times. Rina not continuing singing as a career is one of my life regrets.

This is one of only 4 songs they released with Rina, sadly. Two singles, each with a B side. There's a proper MV for one other song, "One More Chance is Enough," but the B sides have only "playthroughs" with Li-sa-X and Hazuki sitting on sofas in a casual setting. They are titled "Just Be My Treasure" and "Cola Bottle Again." During the playthrough videos, they intermittently put up a card that says "Rina is absent" ...that hits a little harder, now

Li-Sa-X band basically became Koiai after Li-Sa-X left Sony. Not sure what happened there, but she either had to change the name because the "Li-Sa-X Band" name was tied to Sony or they decided to change it because the change of vocalists. And before people say the name can't be tied to a company, Fuki Commune (the original solo project from Unlucky Morpheus' vocalist Fuki) turned into just Fuki as well after she left Victor.

Hazuki is the guitarist with glasses, and Li-sa-X is the other guitarist. Btw, this video was released in Jan 2022, and Li-sa-X was born in Feb 2005 so she is just shy of 17 here.

Four albums of this band would have not been enough… Unfortunately, we only got four songs🙁. And only one more music video… https://youtu.be/PzsqmnEa89c?si=3UAXJV6t5OLcmInE As for Li-Sa-X’s musical journey, this is her compilation of that journey: https://youtu.be/eqnJpXmt_jU?si=yaV5ndqrVM5RLvRU …beginning at 2 years old! As for Hazuki, probably about time for you to revisit Nemophila. The MV for “Adabana” would be my suggestion: https://youtu.be/AxYiOwsu6wU?si=WDjVGG8P7JH43PEE …plus, you can gush about their outfits in that video😉

Been following Lisa-x for about 5 years (found her through a comment on a Tina S (another guitar prodigy from France)) and was amazed by her technical skills at such a young age. I think there's one more song with this line up (One More Chance). She also did a collaboration during the virus lock down with drummer prodigy Yoyoka Soma via zoom that you must watch. Lisa was 15 and Yoyoka was 10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B97HKxg4Cwk Both are so much better now. Yoyoka moved to LA about 2 years ago to pursue her music and is now (she's 14 now) gigging around LA, playing at the Whisky on open mic nights, drumming for the son Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine guitarist) and working on her first album.

That was a one-song collaboration, which is a shame. It seems that Koiai's current line-up is stable. In fact, they have already published two EPs, Deep Indigo and Deep Love, which are highly recommended and quite eclectic.

Unfortunatley singer(Rina) left the band. Some tidbits from her insta etc seemed to indicate her dayjob didn´t allow to commit to band?
