BAND-MAID - DOMINATION (White Room Instrumental)

WARNING: I cuss a little much in this video. I got too excited.

I am not a skeptical person usually, but when someone tells me that I should listen to only the instrumentals of a band, I just think...okay, so listen to just the accompaniment? Yeah right...

This is not the case here. Oh no. This isn't accompaniment. This is a compositional work. A masterwork if you wanted to call it that. There is so much going on within these instrumentals that it is a wonder how Saiki doesn't get distracted. Well...Saiki is a professional after all. She would never miss a beat.
DOMINATION was my introduction to BAND-MAID. There's no looking back now. I'm glad I made it here!

I guess this why the ladies are - Band-Maid (with Saiki on deck)! NittPicc loved your reaction, emotion and yes even the colorful language (I doubt any of haven’t heard those words before). NittPicc is Kawaii - thank you for the reaction and I’ll look forward to more.

The effect you thought was Kanami using a flanger, is actually a technique where you play rapid legato pull offs with your fretting hand, whilst lightly touching the string near the pickups with your picking hand and moving it to create random node points for generating cascading harmonics. Lots of gain, your bridge pickup and plenty of mid range frequencies is essential in getting them to pop out dynamically. It does have some sequenced panning going on too though which you noticed. Plus Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde has referred to this technique as Auto Flanging in the past, so you were in the right ballpark. Kanami also does the reverse variant of this at another point just before the outro solo, where she tremolo picks a single string and generates moving harmonics moving upwards with her fretting hand. This generates much more predictable natural harmonic pitches though, early Muse used to make use of this quite extensively in certain songs.

I don't want Kanami's brain for fear my head would explode.

So if Kanami's brain is ever stolen (like Spock's was that time), we'll know to start looking for it in the DFW...!

Happy to see you getting into the White Room instrumentals and very glad you are enjoying them. You get to experience a more pure version of Band-Maid through their instrumentals

Oh... Yes, I remember that one. Fumi was only 10 when she did this cover in 2018. She's amazing! I also recommend to listen to Sora's cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGmBSkuwkiQ She did not have a foot camera at the time, but you can hear her kick drum very well there. Although my favourite Sora's cover of a BAND-MAID song is After Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQVE-L8UF30 You can also see how amazing the footwork in NO GOD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCC0bLMuUHs The hands part seems to be a little simplistic here, at least to me, but the feet... Man or man...

I found it! In this cover of Fumi you can really enjoy the footwork that Domination requires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4ziRFFRaXU

I would love to delve deep into Kanami's genius brain and find out what incredible pieces of music she contemplating and organizing for future gifts to this world.

Great job!. When I first listened and watched this instrumental version I went through my own particular Stendhal syndrome. I think I watched in awe each of the girls play their part three or four times (the BR version comes with the possibility of focusing on each of them) in a row. Since then I know perfectly well that nothing is what it seems and that it is impossible to grasp everything that Band Maid offers on the first listen to a song, it is absolutely magical to discover all those secret details hidden after one listen and another. When I first listened to Domination I could not imagine that those fantastic voices were surfing on the best progressive rock musical wave of this century. And All that Jazz, of course...
