The Jazz Avengers - Maybe I Know (RE-UPLOAD)

Sorry for the mistake the first time! Here we go again. I hope you enjoy it!

I didn't know before, but after this video...maybe I know!

This group played this chart and KILLED it. The level of muscianship on the stage was electrifying to watch and listen to. I plan on showing this video to the jazz band at the high school because they have to see this one!

There is so much to learn from how each member remains locked in together trading improv solos back and forth even after one entrance might have been a mistake.

This one was just too good guys. TOO GOOD!

After coming back here from my recent YouTube reaction, I am going to have to check out the side projects!

I don’t know why I didn’t even think that the members had side projects. I am going to have to check that out!

I had to come and check this out after you posted the YT vid for Jazz Avengers - I knew it would be this piece and I love it. Written by the drummer Senri, which may help explain why she's so in sync with everything, but I think she's just like that all the time anyway! I would recommend her work in triangle project which is drums, bass and keyboard

Another good all female Japanese jazz fusion group to check out would be guitarist Rie a.k.a. Suzaku led quartet Muses, who share Jazz Avengers bassist Juna Serita, plus keyboardist Marie Fukai and drummer Kanade Sato (who you know from Koiai). It feels almost too obvious to mention legendary piano/synth player Hiromi Uehara, her Sonicbloom quartet project is still amongst the top 3 gigs I've ever been lucky enough to witness. Time Out is great for a song under 7 minutes, or Deep Into the Night if you prefer something closer to 10 minutes with multiple false endings. On a more western front in this kinda vein, I'd recommend Larry Carlton & Steve Lukather's live albums, particularly No Substitutions - Live in Osaka, Larry's song 'Room 335' is a classic for this kinda jam. Larry Carlton was LA's premiere session guitarist in the 70s (00s of credits, but he's most known for playing on Steely Dan records) and Lukather was the same for the 80s (as well as a founding member of Toto).

It was worth having to wait for the explanation portion, I really enjoyed it as you had a lot of interesting info about the saxes, which I really enjoyed as someone who is relatively new to jazz. And while I don't play an instrument, I have always been very interested in music in general so this was great. Like I said under the partial video, all of their solo stuff is really worth checking out as well, my favourites are Senri Kawaguchi (drums), Miku Yonezawa (tenor sax) and Juna Serita (bass), but a bunch of them have released new albums this year or last year after The Jazz Avengers took of somewhat (without a doubt more than they expected) and they are all worth checking out. I will also mention the project 坐音 ZAON (on yt) again with Senri on drums and Ami Nakazono on soprano sax, which is jazz fusion mixed with traditional Japanese instruments (which you seemingly love as well), I love the album they released just before The Jazz Avengers took off. The project is probably on the backburner now, but certainly still worth checking out.
