BAND-MAID - NO GOD (4 way comparison w/YT)

I heard something new each time. I know that both the live performances along with the white room instrumental are all compositionally the same, but DEAR GOD the difference in how their instruments were mic'd up or recorded makes a huge difference.
Both live performances had significant sound output differences. I really enjoyed the most recent version from 2023. The quality was just overall better.
...the white room though. Nothing prepares me for that. I am still amazed at how they sound and how they play when I am not swimming in Saiki's powerful voice.
I'm absolutely blown away from the acoustic performance. The arragement is so tastefully done to match the toned down performance. Brava!

In this case it is an advantage to be late. You mentioned how nice it would be to see Band-Maid in an intimate setting. They are doing exactly that on March 20 and April 13 at Osaka and Tokyo. The venues are 300-350 people with tables, dinner, and they announced a dress code for the shows. There will be two shows each night. A table right in front of the stage is only $68* (plus dinner). That would be awesome. *Granted, the yen is very weak right now relative to the dollar. 4 years ago, that would probably have been close to $100. Still a bargain IMO.

As a bassist I revel at Misa’s fine touches… the sustained notes forming the chords at the end of the solo forming the foundation for the band to fall in together and rejoin… what musicians! Are they a jazz band that plays rock, or a rock band that plays jazz? THEY ARE BAND MAID! “Yes!” (As in multi/and) Final answer!

I loved this in-depth listen, discuss, play another version, discuss then rinse (kidding). Hopefully since the Maids are becoming more open (less shy, for the most part) this will give MISA courage to compose a song(s) herself as she said during an interview.

2024-09-16 00:11:01 +0000 UTCOne of the reasons for the big difference in stage presence is that the one you watched for youtube was a streamed show without audience during COVID and the live one you watched here was during a big concert on a pretty big stage. Also, they only relatively recently released this track (on the Unseen World album) when they recorded the first one you watched and they were more than used to play No God when they performed it in 2023. As far as the acoustic version goes, it's probably my favourite track of that Christmas Acoustic set and I love that whole set in general.
