Nightwish - Scaretale

The fact that this song came from a movie that Nightwish made themselves is truly something behold.

I see that the movie has been posted in the discord already so I might have to watch it sometime soon!

This piece is a wonderful mixture of symphonic sounds with metal, thus making the lovely sounds of Symphonic Metal. Nightwish does it again. The words are dark and the way Anette uses her various vocal timbres to create a more haunting experience was really cool to hear!

I loved the circus section with the guitarist acting as the MC with his booming voice and vibrato. I didn't expect that section, but with the video showing depictions of such, I guess I should've seen it coming.

Anyway...I definitely want to hear more Nightwish!

You should watch the movie. It provides insight to Tuomas' state of mind at the time. I think he was still dealing with the loss of Tarja even after releasing the Dark Passion Play album. In terms of Annette, she's like the middle child, sort of ignored but was part of what I think was Nightwish's two best albums besides "Once". Not many reactors do "The Crow, The Owl And The Dove" from the "Imaginaerum" album. I believe it was written by Marko. There's an official fan made animated video of the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyY5QMf41dk. I think you would enjoy a softer side of Annette and Marko. Might need tissues.

Imiginareum is considered by many their best album. Maybe they learned some lessons from how open letter to Tarja made things worse. Firing Anette was done without describing every problem they may have with her. History of Nightwish. https://trembol.com/en/nightwish-albums/

It's unfortunate that Annette doesn't get more recognition as the singer for Nightwish. She voice was the total opposite of Tarja's, and a lot of fans weren't happy. She didn't have that classical tone to her voice, and Nightwish was moving in a different direction musically (maybe because of Annette's limitations). I don't think Tarja could have done this song justice, to the same eeriness that Annette does. I'm in the Nightwish Reserves (haven't joined the Army yet), so I don't know the history of her leaving and being replaced by Floor 48 hours later. Thanks for the reaction.
