I know, the English translation of their name doesn’t do it justice😂 My reference point for Megumi’s vocal style is mid-century jazz pop. But it is probably more of a modern enka (Showa era) vocal influence. Suzuka of AG! has similar vocal stylings (“Otona Blue” is a perfect example). The artsy, indie, alternative scene in Japan is just phenomenal. You can spend months discovering new bands. And, yes, I will take this opportunity to once again suggest reacting to Suichu Spica’s epic masterpiece “Spica”. I had the joy of seeing them live this year. Even if it was a way too short 30+ minute set, it will probably be my favorite concert this year.
