K-ON!, S.1, Ep.2 - Instruments!

It's sweet that Yui's club friends wanted to help her buy her first guitar that was way out of her price range, but it was even more sweet is Yui asks her friends to keep their money to spend on themselves.

I don't care if this anime isn't all about music. Watching this kinds of friendship makes my heart happy!

BAND-MAID definitely tried to borrow certain symbols from K-ON anime. Thanks for noticing MISA's tiny hat, I missed that reference before. I noticed only the tea set which BAND-MAID used for quite a long time. Last time it appears in Manners MV, I think.

Couple of answers to your questions. On the name causing embarrassment, from what I've read about Japanese culture, no one uses the given names (not family) when speaking to others, only family and relatives and close friends use a given name when speaking to people in their close group. So it's a big deal to call someone by their given name. You see this trope a lot of romance anime. Picking the first guitar by looks, remember that Miku selected her first guitar by how it looked. The ending outro - did you notice that Mio the bassist is wearing a tiny hat, dressed all in back, and likes to be in the background, humm, who does that sound like? Thanks for continuing with the series.

Separately from my ramblings about guitars, I'm enjoying re-watching K-On also. Slice-of-Life is one of my favourite anime genres and this is one of the classics that gave rise to many things that've since become cliched elsewhere.
