BAND-MAID - LOOK AT ME

Rhythmic motifs.

Tempo changes.

Key changes.

Swing style!

This piece may sound "simple" like an good ol' BAND-MAID song, but there is so much more to this one than what meets the...ear?

I wasn't expecting that middle swing section at a faster tempo that feels like it's supposed to slower? It also has a Van Halen sound to it. Kanami really kills the solo here and Misa joins in with her sick bass line.

I hope you enjoy this one!

Why do I get "Man on a Silver Mountain" vibes. I've always liked this sound from Band-Maid. It had a feeling of "we know the sound we're looking for, but we just haven't found it yet. Like they were still trying to get the feel for their signature sound.

Yeah, it's sure makes us feel old, lol!

I'm outraged! You called that "old school" rock. I'll have you know that was the music of my youth! LOL!!!!!1🀣

Well Brand New Maid had quite a few signature songs like The non-fiction days, Yuragu, Freedom, Before Yesterday and finally Alone. Being Alone the first song completely made by our girls, Kobato is credited in the lyrics for Freedom and Yuragu (along with Saiki). But, as usual, being the song self-written or not, they kick asses..

Just keep in mind, these early songs were not written by Band-Maid, but for them, then they picked the ones they felt fit them best. I'm sure Kanami caressed them a bit, and learned a lot in these years, as to what the label wanted from from them and paved the way for Band-Maids' freedom!

It was only an ad, to convince people who were on the fence about it, to go and buy the whole stream πŸ˜πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ•ŠοΈ

People: Well band, rhythmic motifs?, tempo changes?, key changes?, swing style? Band Maid: Yes!

Thanks for this/these, I look forward to Sunday mornings. As I am newer to Band Maid this look at their older material is not only interesting but fun. I don't know if you watched the stream of their July 14th, 2024, show - it was awesome. If you did not, Valdimir Chupin posted this on his channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keVgIWX9RRc it is as the title says, short but oh so sweet.
