Sound! Euphonium, S.1, Ep. 3 - The First Ensemble

I'm a little tipsy typing this right now...

I get a little heated in this one. I have experienced a lot of what is going on in this episode and MAN does it get me heated!

I think you should watch and react on Kyoto Tachibana. They are real high school band and also a marching band. Very famous in Japan

Whilst A4=440hz is what's been formally standardised for most in the US and UK, Bernstein used to have the New York Philharmonic tune to 442hz, much to the chagrin of the piano tuners' union (this might be an easter egg reference to that). Plus with European orchestras they often tune anywhere between 440-444Hz depending on the tradition. I've also read that pitched percussion instruments (such as vibraphone and marimba) are tuned to A = 442Hz, because wind instruments tend to go slightly sharp as they warm up. Hence, the manufacturers "pre-adjust" the tuning of the bars to accommodate the shift. Dimebag Darrell from Pantera would sometimes tune his guitars to a quarter tone down, by setting his tuner to 427.5-430Hz. It's one of the reasons why it's so difficult to cover their material and get it to sound just right.

Not gonna lie: I watched all season 1 and 2 last days. I liked it! And i'm sure it will be pretty full of things you will relate too. It's pretty deep story.

NittPicc, if you want to see how the Japanese teach their students about music, you NEED to watch the New York Times award winning documentary, "Music From A Beating Heart". It will both enlighten you about Japan and make you cry at the same time!

And that's why we recommended this show to you. HE HE
