Sound! Euphonium, S.1, Ep. 4 - Singing Solfége

*thumbnail coming later! I had to upload from school!*

This show is super healing to watch after a rough few days back from spring break, but I feel like I wish my students would work half as hard as these students are going to!

Anyway, I hope your week is going better than mine so far!

I second "Girls Band Cry" even tho I personally am NOT a fan of the Art style. The story is very compelling.

In terms of anime to replace Bocchi in the reaction rotation, whilst waiting for season 2 to come out, I'm gonna stick with suggesting music themed shows for now; primarily those available through Crunchyroll as well to make your life easier. I agree with Luis that Frieren is a brilliant show, but with the better music themed anime we also get you to add your insight and nerd out in a way closer to your core 'brand'. First I would suggest 'Girls Band Cry' which I've been mentioning since your Kessoku Band reactions; it's also available on Crunchyroll and so far only a single 12 episode cour has been released. All the band members in the main group from the show are first time VAs that were chosen as the result of a one & a half year long audition process to find young talent that could both act and perform equally, they play live shows as the band and released material before it even aired. The art style is CG based, but it is the better end of that spectrum to the point where I got past the uncanny valley aspect within the first episode. It has a similar setting to Bocchi (though the creators made a point of the musicians not being high-schoolers) and some really well done musical setpieces. It's not really fair to compare the two directly though, as GBC is more of a drama with occasional comedic elements. Another interesting single cour show is 'Those Snow White Notes', which is based around the slightly intense world of competitive shamisen playing in Japan. Can't say much without spoilers. Further afield there's 'Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night' which streams through Hidive in the west, but you can watch it in a way that legitimately supports the creators through YT, if you set a VPN to Indonesia (one of the territories where YT channels pay for streaming rights, as there aren't more traditional streaming services that license anime). That one's an anime original based around a music/creative collective formed of misfits, it didn't quite match the initial ambition of the story but is still very watchable. Also not sure if you've noticed, but Crunchyroll also has a selection of music videos and full length concerts available to stream these days.

There is so much that they do that is so different from what I experienced when I was in band. We never learned about abdominal breathing, breath exercises, running, sectional practice, etc. Of course I was in a small rural school and there were only about 25 kids in band.

Kousaka-san first name is Reina. You know what it means in spanish. It's all you need to know about her. The suggestion about the anime of the flute and oboe player, is the third movie of the Sound Euphonium saga. It's called "Liz and the blue bird", but you need to watch the second season of Sound Euphomiun before. For suggestions of new anime, depends of what you wanna watch. Action, Drama, comedy. Another music anime?. I think you should watch "Frieren: Beyond journeys end". A masterfull show from the same director of Bocchi the rock. It's a fantasy show that has a great story and a amazing music from Evan Call.
