2025-08-29 11:48:08 +0000 UTCThe pastiche of Japanese high society being portrayed in the show IRL was initially adopted during the Meiji period of the late 19th century when the country rapidly modernised from what was previously a feudal society. It's largely based off European upper class norms of the time, albeit through somewhat of a filter; which was & still is very different from the American equivalent. I suppose guitar/music would be considered 'my everything' in terms of personal passions, because as a late starter I had to fight my corner to pursue it as far as I did academically and to this day I couldn't imagine ever not playing. It's also obvious externally when I'm depressed, because my enthusiasm & discipline for practice & making time in my schedule for guitar is usually the first thing that suffers. Kind of ironic/self-destructive given that playing guitar itself is also one of the things that acts as a cathartic outlet and helps me control my state of mind.
