K-ON!, S.1, Ep.7 - Christmas!

It's a little early for Christmas time to be here for us, but it sure does feel nice to see some winter weather (even without snow)! It's so hot here in Texas that I'll take a cool breeze any day.

I no longer relate to the advisor. She got a little weird this episode, but who could blame her? It seems like she had a terrible breakup with a boyfriend. I wish her all the luck.

The girls on the other hand? They warm my heart even though it's sweating from what's left of the Texas summer season. Hah!

I lived in the outskirts of Tokyo for 3 years, it didn’t snow often in my location but it did snow a couple times a year but in the North there is much more snow and then if you live in Okinawa for example, it is tropical. So similar to the U.S., there are various climates there.

We dont have any traditional food other than Christmas, carp with potato salad. Carp is just OK tasting fish, but i love poptato salad. Every household has their own version of what to put into it.

About christmas in japan, very few japanese are christian or muslim, the bigger religions here are shintoism and budhism, so they don't really care for christmas like we do and saw this just the same as valentine's day. I don't know if it is still the case, but for exemple, for several years, the tradition for many japaneses in christmas, was to go to KFC (thanks to the marketing that put this as a tradition lol). So yeah, Ui making turkey is propably a way to put a little of this "tradition" in it ^^. About the bells ringing tradition, it's budhism, it's a way to celebrate a new year by cleaning the one that just finished and starting a new (that why the girls wish for something to come for this new year).
