This is such a lovely story of love. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing.
The Concubine was so smart to feign sleepwalking to make her seem less appealing to the emperor. Even her tripping is a nice touch!
I am just happe her and her friend can be together now!

2025-10-03 11:57:29 +0000 UTCI'd say this is a series where it really is best to avoid reading the synopses, aside from them being kinda reductive you already get the more subtle teasers at the end of the previous episode and it's better to go in a little more blind to whatever MaoMao has to figure out. Also makes it more satisfying if you figure it and/or any twists out ahead of time I found.

2025-10-02 20:30:18 +0000 UTCIt is an emotional episode, nothing wrong with getting emotional with it. I always get a little emotional with this episode for two reasons: 1. For Fuyou, it is emotional seeing her get to be with the man she loves. The music, the scene where they embrace after MaoMao and Gyokuyō talking about what was happening. 2. And for Gyokuyō, when she asks Maomao is it makes her a terrible woman to envy Fuyou. Gyokuyo may have made her peace with being a concubine for the emperor. But now that she has the emperor's daughter, she knows that her world is inside the four walls of the rear palace. She will never be allowed to leave there while she lives. A cage, no matter how gilded, remains a cage. I been enjoying watching this with you and looking forward to seeing your reactions going forward!

The first one like you said, was to protect Fuyu, but the second is subtly said by her, she never speak on conjectures. She is a very logical and collected person, she need proofs and she love to understand things, of course she make hypothesis, but never assume that she is right without being 100% sure. And like she said, it is her father who teach her to be like that. Also, I can't wait to see your reaction to the next one ^^. As to faking illness, I never did that, even in my personal life, that why when I call my doctor for a consultation, they already know that it's because I'm really sick or bad lol. But sadly, for all my schollyears, I was only sick during vacation, never during schooldays ^^'.

We can see in episode 2 concubine Fuyou and also her betrothed who is the military officer who stop the executions of the town people accused of poison the soldiers. This show rewards attention. The author is a master of leaving breadcrums for you to follow. Gaushun, Jinshi's aide calling Maomao as Xiaomao. The prefix xiao means "little", so, he called her "little cat".
