Chapter 80 - Sloth and Wrath.

I woke up the next day to find Kumoko already awake. Liu, the redhead, and Ferdinand were also awake, observing the surroundings. Had I slept longer than I should have? Was I that tired?

Well, it's been a while since I slept well.

'You’re finally awake! How long did you plan to sleep? Did you know humans appeared?'

'Huh? Humans appeared? Are you serious?' I looked around but saw nothing except monsters. They were my familiars and seemed relatively calm, so it didn't seem like any humans had appeared here.

'Yes, they appeared. But thanks to your familiars, I didn’t have to fight. They were an army, but I don’t know where they came from.'

'An army? Like… an army with horses and wearing heavy armor?'

'Yes, exactly. Fortunately, there weren’t many of them.' Kumoko looked relieved.

'Ferdinand, do you know where the army came from?'

“I’m not sure, but they probably came from a small nearby country. They didn’t have many weapons, and their numbers weren’t large. It was a weak army.”

'I see. I guess they noticed our presence and sent the army to attack us. The nearest country is close to here, but they arrived very quickly. Maybe they noticed our presence days before we attacked this city.'

“Or maybe they don't know we were here. They seemed very surprised by the destruction of the city and the number of monsters here.”

'So, they didn’t know we were here?'

Is a war between the small countries happening? I have no idea if that’s the case. Maybe it’s not a war, but an army to kill monsters in this region.

'Are you sure you don’t know where the army came from? Didn’t you try to ask them?'

“I didn’t have time to do that. Your monsters attacked them and didn’t let me interrogate any of them.”

'I see. Are any of the bodies left?'

“I think so.”

'Take me to one of the bodies.'

I followed Ferdinand, with Liu and the redhead following close behind. Kumoko also decided to follow once she realized she’d be left alone. The monsters cleared the way, and we reached the middle of the destroyed city.

Some bodies were on the ground.

However, they were destroyed. There were three bodies; none of them had arms or legs, and one was missing a head. It was impossible to reconstruct a body like that without using parts of monster bodies.

No, that’s not necessary.

I approached one of the bodies still with a head and changed its status to [Alive].

As soon as I made the edit, the man's eyes slowly opened. He was shocked and let out a scream: "AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

It was a scream that even hurt my sensitive ears.

I threw my spider web over the man's mouth to make him quiet.

When he noticed my presence beside him, with my eight eyes staring at him, he began to sweat and struggle. But he couldn't get up since he had no arms or legs.

The blood in his arms and legs was dry, and I could see his flesh and bones. It was a bit disgusting.

'Where did you come from?' I asked him.

Upon hearing my calm voice, the man stopped struggling; his eyes filled with tears, and he began to tremble. I removed the spider web from his mouth and waited for him to respond.

“We came from a country to the north.”

'To the north? I wasn’t heading there. What were you doing here?'

“We were after an earth dragon that recently appeared in this region. This city called us to provide support.”

'A dragon? In this region? That doesn’t make much sense. Are you sure you’re here to hunt a dragon?'

“That’s the information we received.”

'Hmmm… We haven’t found any dragons in this region. I’ve only found dragons inside the dungeon. And I know there are water dragons in the sea…'

“What are you?” the man asked.

'What am I? You could say I was human and ended up becoming a spider.'

“If you were human, why are you doing this?! Are you kidding me?!” The man began to shout at me and cry. He started cursing me in various ways, but I tore off his head.

I had gathered enough information.

'This idiot said they came here because this city requested their support to kill a dragon. Did any of you see a dragon in this region?' I asked Liu, the redhead, Ferdinand, and Kumoko. They all replied they hadn’t seen a dragon.

Something strange is going on.

'Did he lie to me?'

I revived the other man, but he said the same thing.

I have my next target.

I looked at my status to see if there was anything I could do. I can create skills, but they are simple skills that won't be useful at the moment.

But I can do something. Acquire more Ruler Skills.

The two skills I have permanently are the [Pride] and the [Greed] skills... I should get the others. They will be pretty helpful.

And I have A LOT of points to spend.

I have so many points that I can buy all the Ruler Skills.

The [Sloth] skill is interesting. And the [Wrath] skill is also interesting. The remaining skills don’t excite me much. I’ll buy these two.
