It is nice to see that Doctor Who having a deeper layer of social commentary beneath the creatures and explosions is something that's been there pretty much since the start. :)

This story, above the Daleks, weaves (if not completely subtly) all of these themes together to teach important lessons. You can see the Doctor shining and starting to become the man that you know him as in the Revival. This story came around ~20 years after WWII, so all the commentary was relatively recent in the scheme of things. Such an iconic story.
