Which Pilot Should I Watch Next?

Since I'll be doing back-to-back Doctor Who-related pilots (Torchwood on July 30th and The Sarah Jane Adventures on August 6th), I want to add a non-DW pilot reaction for next Saturday.

Which one should I watch? (You can vote for as many as you would like.)

Also, if you have any suggestions for shows you want me to react to the pilot episode of, please let me know in the comments.

Thanks, Malcolm! I think you're right in that Patreon likes smaller comments. People leave very long comments on my One Tree Hill videos and it seems like more often than not they get deleted and the person has to repost. So, maybe multiple smaller comments is the key. I'll be curious to see how I like the What We Do in the Shadows movie. I think the tv show is hilarious, but it did take me quite a long time to fully get into it because I wasn't really all that invested in what was happening or the characters and just being really funny isn't enough for me. So, I'm wondering if the movie will be the same way. I heard great things about Chernobyl and I've always been interested in the actual events. But, I did also hear about a particular episode around the dogs of Chernobyl and, honestly, I think it's enough for me to avoid the series. I try to avoid sad animal stories as much as possible; especially about dogs (and especially at the moment when losing my pup is still so fresh). But, I'll look into the rest! :)

A much more emotionally heavy mini-series made by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies is "It's a Sin" it is a British period drama television miniseries. The five-part series is set between 1981 and 1991 in London and depicts the lives of a group of gay men and their friends during the HIV/AIDS crisis in the United Kingdom. It has received huge awards and was decades in the making. Another emotionally heavy historical mini-series is Chernobyl, which also won numerous top awards for its realistic take on what happened behind the scenes during the Chernobyl disaster. It probably is the most emotional series I have ever seen, which makes for great reactions, but can be very tough to watch for the reactor. I'd say make sure you are in the right headspace before diving into the series, although the first episode is not too rough if you want to try it as a pilot.

I notice you have the "What We Do in the Shadows" movie on your watch list. If you end up liking that, you might want to give "Flight of the Conchords" a go (it's a "documentary" about two New Zealanders trying to become hit singers in America.) Another more recent series made by the same team is "Our flag means death" based on the true story of Stede Bonnet the "Gentleman pirate" about a rich man who has a midlife crisis and leaves his comfortable life to become a pirate, and is totally clueless in the process. (It is only 10 episodes long) I lump these all together as while they are completely different settings, they tend to have a similar fish-out-of-water vibe, and what I can best describe as cringe humour. Like all humour, what some find hilarious others find silly, so if you don't like one, you probably will not like the rest.
