FULL REACTION | One Tree Hill | 1x21 | The Leaving Song

No, I've noticed your criticism with others at the beginning and I've agreed with those, but most of those were a one-time thing or at the beginning like you said. With Haley it's seems continuous. Haley is definitely not perfect and will deserve criticism. I just didn't see it in season 1. Besides lying to Lucas (with good intentions btw) about Nathan (who she saw another side to and the reasons for his behavior) and initially appearing to be a crappy friend, I thought she was a great character. I mean a lot of good came from that decision. Lucas got a brother and she got a husband😊. Two of the biggest reveals in the finale. Now let's see how her next big decision goes lol.

I'm totally open to people commenting about how they disagree with me when they do so respectfully. :) There's no way everyone watching the same show is going to agree on everything. One thing I want to clarify is that I actually REALLY like Haley and that's why I get so frustrated. I was A LOT like Haley in high school and I can see myself in her character. Most of my complaints (and especially this porn storyline) aren't actually toward Haley as a character. They're toward the writers. This honestly felt like lazy writing to me and didn't really fit the character in my opinion. If they had left the porn part out and just made it about the pictures of Peyton, that would've made so much more sense. Since you mentioned the Brooke pregnancy lie specifically, I'll just say that I honestly wasn't sure what she was lying about so I was more confused than anything during the reaction. But, now that I know exactly what she was lying about, yeah, I do think it was a really shitty thing to do. With Karen lying to Lucas, it's not great but I'm honestly not super upset with her about it. She truly believed she was protecting Lucas and seeing how Nathan was raised, I don't disagree. It's not great, but I get it. With me being more annoyed with Haley when Nathan was using her... again, that was more to do with the writers. Haley isn't stupid. Had she been a real person, she would've seen right through it. But, the writers needed her to be extra naive to fit the story. So, it was frustrating to watch. For Nathan's side of it, he was acting exactly how that character would act based on who he was at that time. There was nothing surprising about his actions so there wasn't much to react to. Given how much you like Haley, I have to wonder if maybe you just notice my criticisms of her more than others as I have criticized every single character on the show at one point or another because they're all flawed in some way; which is a good thing because they would be pretty boring characters if they weren't. No one is off-limits if they do something bad or stupid... even my favorites. :) I was pissed at Lucas for cheating on Brooke and for treating Peyton, Haley, and Keith like crap. I was upset with Peyton for betraying Brooke (and found her pretty annoying in the beginning). I found Brooke very one-dimensional and kind of pointless in the beginning. I've been super annoyed with Mouth most of the time (though he's finally won me over and I see the charm in his character now). I've been frustrated with several of Deb's decisions. I've been vocal about not really liking Karen at all (she's still one of my least favorite characters). I was disappointed with Keith asking Karen to marry him. I've thought Whitey was too harsh with the players. I couldn't stand Nathan in the beginning. Basically, I'm critical of every single character when there's a reason to be.

So glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about Haley's reaction! lol If you love the Nathan/Lucas reactions, you're going to love the finale reaction. :) I have seen the finale now so, feel free to share what you thought going into it. I'm curious!

Well since you're already expecting "backlash", I'll bite, but really it's just my opinion, so I hope that's ok. I feel that besides Dan, you're overly critical of Haley in comparison to any other character on the show. (Though I have mentioned others in previous comments, here's one early example, since you mentioned your early Haley annoyances. You were way more reactive/harsh to Haley lying to Lucas about tutoring Nathan than you were to Brooke lying about being pregnant or Karen lying to Lucas about Dan.) I guess I don't understand why other characters don't receive the same amout of criticism, for imo, more questionable decisions/reactions. 🤔 Anyway, regarding this episode, what I see is a 16 yr old kid who is navigating a serious relationship for the first time with someone who is on a very different experience level than her. She's hurt. She's allowed to have a reaction to that hurt. It's not like she broke up with him over it. She did seek other opinions to process everything. I also don't agree that Nathan gets to be mad at Haley for "snooping" in regards to the Peyton pics to kinda lessen the reason Haley's rightfully mad. She didn't do it on purpose and it doesn't excuse that he saved those "sexy" pics. In fact, you were way more reactive/annoyed at what Haley did, her "overreaction" than you were about what Nathan did. I remember she didn't get to be mad about Nathan using her either. Your reaction was to be more annoyed with her for how she felt about it and not being smart enough to figure it out than it was by Nathan being a jerk. Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion (they are your honest reactions) just stating my take on the situation and subsequently your reactions. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I definitely agree with you that haley was overreacting when she came across the sites…I mean what did she expect he’s literally a teenage guy who’s not getting any lol… I definitely understand her insecurities and self-conscious and all of that stuff but that’s something personal within herself and it has nothing to do with Nathan and like you said at the end of the day it doesn’t matter the age men still look at those things haha!!! I think she’s just naive at times and Nathan is a good looking guy who can get most likely any girl he wants at school so I get it 🥴 When it comes to the Peyton WebCam photos I definitely think that Nathan could’ve deleted them but who knows maybe he forgot they were there after all him and Peyton was off and on for a while however just like Haley I too would be upset to see my bf ex on his computer like literally any photo of an ex is not ok. Y’all reaction every time you see Lucas and Nathan together is so the best 😃 🥺 and The finale is here…I’m not gonna speak on it and what I thought going into it until after but I can wait for your reaction. 💕
