Nathan figuring things out and coming to realizations to improving himself and making his life happy is my favorite Nathan. Well, I guess that can be said with all of them. They will all be better for that. It just hits different with Nathan atm because we see more with ppl hurting him via his relationships with his parents and Haley. Nathan is reliving his childhood trauma of his mother abandoning him and like he found out last season running off with some guy(which is why he can't hear Haley when she says that is not the reason). His hurt and anger at his mom runs deep. Haley is Deb this season. I think Nathan telling Haley not to come home was him trying to let go of his anger and understand the situation.

2022-08-18 00:41:56 +0000 UTCA fun fact for you Britany … It’s crazy because the producers actually wanted Chad to play Nathan character considering he’s played the bad boy in Dawson Creek, and Gilmore girls as you said but he refused to play the bad boy instead play the nice guy he wanted some thing challenging and thank goodness he push for it because I could not see him playing Nathan at all lol For me I think my favorite part of this episode was the ending where Nathan tells Haley not to come home, him coming to the realization that letting her go is the right thing to do at the moment rather than continue to feeling angry and harming himself. I think he now realized that the best thing to do going forward is to allow Haley to continue to enjoy doing what she loves the most which is music and touring at the moment and as for him it’s now time move foward to start healing and finding himself without Haley which I can appreciate and this is why I love nathan. He’s just special 🥺
