Back in the day, the BBC (owing to a lack of storage and money) had a policy of purging anything that it didn't feel to be culturally or historically important, in order that videotape (which was expensive back then) could be re-used. Hence, they deleted much of Dr Who, and almost ALL of the Beatles! In fact, the very short clip we saw here of the Beatles performing Ticket to Ride is the ONLY surviving footage of the Beatles performing at the BBC (which they did on several occasions). Back in 1965 their reputation hadn't reached the heights that it has nowadays, and the executives in charge of the BBC - being of an older generation - would probably not have held the band in particularly high esteem. I can see why this episode was chosen for you to watch. It contains many enjoyable elements...but 'plot development' might not be one of them :)
