Probably the weakest story of the series for me. It just kind of falls apart after setting up some great plot lines. You'll notice a vast improvement and consistency in the following series, as they were really just finding their feet in series 1. Out of curiosity when do you plan to watch the next series? I can't seem to see it on the advanced schedule, and I would suggest to keep watching alongside the main show's timeline if possible!

2022-09-11 19:15:27 +0000 UTCI'm so glad I'm not the only one to feel this way about the Abaddon stuff. If it weren't for the TARDIS showing up at the end, it would've ruined the entire episode for me and that's not what you want in a finale for an otherwise great series.

2022-09-10 12:06:37 +0000 UTCI completely agree with everything you said! I was so letdown after Abaddon that I was just waiting for something else to happen at the end to salvage it, and then I heard the TARDIS. Definitely an awesome ending.

2022-09-09 02:04:06 +0000 UTCI don’t rewatch this episode which is a shame because up until the moment abaddon appears it is an outstanding episode but the resolution is a massive let down. I agree with Clara Eve Myles really steals the show in this one. Glad to see Owen moments are getting to you too. I just love his character not because he is a good person but because he is a wonderfully performed complex character with depth. I concur with your confusion about how jack and Ianto’s relationship is handled in series 1 they just appear out of nowhere and don’t explain it properly. Can’t wait for Utopia reaction!

2022-09-09 00:51:49 +0000 UTCI agree that the Abaddon stuff is a bit of a letdown, but the real payoff here is the sound of the TARDIS at the end ;) Apart from that, for me, this is THE Eve Myles episode, she was FANTASTIC as Gwen in this episode, she broke me again and again!
