WATCH ALONG | PILOT SERIES | Pose

This is where I react to pilot episodes of shows I've never seen (so, obviously, NO SPOILERS please).

If I enjoy the pilot and, more importantly, if I get enough positive feedback from you, I might turn it into a full reaction series at some point.

A Few Notes:

So some thoughts/comments now that I've watched the reaction. Evan Peters' character Stan is included in the show in my opinion to show that there are of course men who are interested in transgender women. Some pursue those relationships privately and some pursue those relationships privately. Stan is being private with his relationship with Angel because as we saw he is married with kids. I would agree that this show is very much character driven. Blanca is personally my favorite character from the show. I do agree that this first episode actually doesn't really give much detail about Blanca outside of her HIV diagnosis, a little bit of her back story, and of course she is now a House Mother to Damon, Angel, and Lil Papi. As the show continues of course more will be told about her. And yes if you continue watching this show this will be a show that makes you cry lol.

Thank you for reacting to my recommendation. This isn't a long series only 3 seasons totaling 26 episodes. It being a short series was actually a set decision early on by one of the creators named Steve Canals because he felt the show should have closure but also end before in his words it became "filler tv" (because you know sometimes the longer shows continue sometimes the shows can dip in quality). This is why I've said before in my opinion this is the best Ryan Murphy produced show because to me in my opinion the quality never dips. It being on a set timeline on knowing when it was going to end progressed stories really great in my opinion. I'm not LGBT+ myself but you don't have to be that to watch this show. Though a part of the series focuses on LGBT+ people and the connection they have to the Ballroom Scene to me the show is so much more than that. It definitely also focuses on the idea that friends can be a small or large part of your chosen family and the show lets us see those dynamics which is something I think everybody has experienced at some level. Also because it gives no spoiler to the storyline but I have to mention this as someone who actually loves music more than television and movies the music featured in this show is really great. Since the show is set in the 1980s and 1990s the music featured in the show is from that era mixed with some music from the 60s and 70s so there is music from Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Madonna, TLC, Aaliyah, En Vogue, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Sade, etc. featured throughout all seasons. Both Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson have mentioned loving that their music was a part of the show and that they were fans of the show. Also fun fact I know because I'm a Janet fan so of course I keep up with Janet related things related, Janet has actually become friends with multiple members from the Pose cast in fact Angelica Ross (Candy) and Hailie Sahar (Lulu) were at a private birthday party for Janet earlier this year.
