Also, I was not a fan of Brooke's "games." But, I also don't think she knows exactly what she needs from Lucas to trust him again, which is why her games make no sense even to her. I think what Brooke is saying she needs here with Lucas is not entirely true whether she knows it or not. Lucas is doing everything that she listed, but it's still not enough. Maybe because there is something Lucas could do that she can't figure out. For starters, he could let her in on his two big secrets, so far. Granted both Peyton and Haley kind of know by default but still he seems to have no intention on telling Brooke. While it's not Haley's place to tell Brooke, I think the line at the end of the last episode about his heart being more fragile than she knows was to point out that she doesn't know. It just doesn't even cross his mind that maybe it's something Brooke should know.

I too felt the Lucas and Nathan conflict was forced. (I think it was contrived so they could focus on some of Lucas' other relationships that we saw in season 1 that were backburnered in season 2 to build up Nathan and Lucas: Lucas and Haley, Lucas and Brooke and Lucas and Peyton.) Definitely not my fav storyline, but Lucas was not wrong here. Like you and Lucas said, what Nathan is doing w Chris feels very manipulative and very Dan like. Obv Nathan has a reason for them, but Haley and Lucas don't see it and we are also unclear of them. The way Nathan treated Lucas at practice was ridiculous. Anyway, Nathan didn't just let go of how he deals with his anger overnight. I think he's handling his issues/anger much better with Haley than he is with Lucas. Trust is a big theme this season with both Naley and Brucas and Nathan and Brooke because they both were really hurt. Nathan needs Haley to prove she won't leave and he can count on her and Brooke needs Lucas to prove that she's his first choice and there's nobody else. Not sure how pushing Haley to Chris or essentially Rachel to Lucas proves that, but we shall see. These last 2 epis were filler/setup epis. Even though some storylines carried over from last season we do get some new developments early in this season. I think we will get more movement in the next several epis about where some of this stuff is heading. For me this season really takes off after those epis.
